If you're searching for vegan dining options in Norfolk that go beyond just a Beyond Burger and fries, look no further than Streats. Their menu features a variety of vegan appetizers and entrees, such as the delicious Grill Tofu Tacos. In addition to the tasty food options, Streats also boasts a full bar with an extensive cocktail menu and a lovely outdoor seating area.
We went to this restaurant for a late dinner on Saturday with a large group of people. I ordered the vegan pot stickers (which were delicious!) and the Vietnamese noodle dish (also very tasty!) Both dishes were clearly marked with a vegan 'V' on the menu, which made me happy. The restaurant was quite dark, so I decided to order a margarita. Later on, I also ordered the artichoke appetizer, which had a vegan 'V' next to it. However, when the waiter brought it out and I saw the sauce on top, I became concerned and asked if it was vegan. Unfortunately, the waiter informed me that it contained mayonnaise. He was not apologetic and didn't offer to fix the mistake. As someone allergic to eggs, this was a disappointing experience for me. This incident really soured my opinion of the restaurant, especially since they heavily promote their vegan options on their website. However, in their defense, the menu did indicate that the sauce on the appetizer was vegetarian and not vegan. Nonetheless, I think they should make it clearer by marking the dish as vegetarian and including a note about the vegan option without sauce. I hope they take this feedback into consideration to improve their vegan-friendly options in the future.
Neil provided excellent service for us. His cheerful demeanor was a welcome relief after a tiring day at the hospital. I appreciated the small menu that catered to both plant-based and meat-eaters, making it difficult to decide what to order. In the end, we went with the lamb and beef gyro and the jerk chicken tacos on corn tortillas, both of which were absolutely delicious. The overall experience, from the service to the food, was top-notch. We can't wait to return again.
This restaurant is a charming and cozy spot with convenient parking and easy access to all the attractions of Colley Avenue. The bartender is skilled at mixing drinks and the chef has a passion for vegan cuisine. If they added the Beyond Burger (or something similar), I would give them a five-star rating. They have a loyal following of regular customers.
This review is a bit late, but I absolutely adore this restaurant and feel compelled to share. I stumbled upon this hidden gem by chance one evening and I am so grateful that I did. I have been back a few times since and every visit has been fantastic. The first time I went was a few months ago, where I enjoyed cocktails and dessert. The bread pudding was incredibly delicious and the drinks were top-notch. The staff were friendly and eager to please. I especially love the outdoor seating area. During my most recent visit a few weeks ago, I tried the fish and chips and was impressed by the perfectly battered and seasoned dish. My friend ordered the jerk chicken and also raved about it. Overall, this place is a must-visit for anyone looking for a great dining experience.
