Feedback
Saltine has received mixed reviews from customers, with some criticizing the food quality, portion sizes, and customer service, especially on Thanksgiving. Complaints range from overpriced dishes to undercooked mussels and chewy ribeye. However, positive reviews also highlight delicious appetizers, great servers like Sam and Maddy, and a welcoming atmosphere. Many agreed that the seafood dishes were well-prepared. Overall, Saltine offers a variety of options to please different tastes, with high points being the fish dip, PEI mussels, and excellent grilled salmon. While some have had disappointing experiences, others enjoyed the food and service enough to plan return visits.
Server was very knowledgeable and attentive to our table. the food was excellent (as usual). that's my way to the business menu. the restaurant never misses me.
If I could give this place a 1.5 rating, I would. It was Thanksgiving and we had reservations. We are a party of 5 and were seated in a corner booth clearly too small for all of us. I asked the hostess if we could move but she said “no, there are other reservations and this is all we have.” Meanwhile, there are plenty of other tables open. After asking 2 more times, we were moved to a larger booth and made to feel uncomfortable with the body language. Oh yes and we were also told that there were on 2 thanksgiving dinners left. Our server was clearly way too busy with other tables. He checked in and took our order, but the attention could have been more. Especially since there were 5 of us. Very frustrating. We ordered some mussels for appetizer. The mussels were not cooked fully and many of them were not open and very slimy/raw still. My 13 year old son deeply cut his finger trying to open one of them and had to excuse himself to the bathroom to clean the blood off his hands and clean his shirt. Not necessarily a great start to dinner. The mussels were sent back and after waiting 45 minutes, they were prepared properly. We all ordered our food, including my order of the 40 ounce ribeye. The ribeye was very chewy and not necessarily tasteful either. The side dishes were cold and we rarely saw our waiter to complain. By then, we wanted to just eat and get out of there. I didn’t want to cause a scene in front of my family especially on thanksgiving. When our check came, an automatic 20% tip was added. This was a very expensive meal for 5 people and I feel as if I could have gotten a lot better somewhere else. Very disappointed all around. This place is overpriced and overrated.
The She crab Soup is ?5 stars? hands down! Smooth, creamy absolutely delicious! I could have made my dinner on this soup alone, seasoned to perfection; creamy and served at the right temperature; I dare not even put the oyster crackers in it; whytamper with perfection? The scallops were buttery juicy, I would say extremely well seasoned. Honestly everything that touchedour pallets was extremely delicious; from the crab cake, to the vegetables to the potatoes let?s not forget that amazing SheCrab Soup. I would definitely come back here, the service from Angeline was nothing less than stellar. She provided greatservice coupled by a great personality and was extremely knowledgeable of the dishes. I highly recommend Saltine, it?sdefinitely worth the money spent, remember you get what you pay for and we got that plus more.
My favorite restaurant at The Main! I highly suggest a reservation as they stay busy. Great service all around, I ate here 2 days in a row and was not disappointed. The handcrafted cocktails were delicious and the mussels were my favorite. The servicewas top-notch, very nice, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
