From the start, the staff... read more The reservation process was indeed seamless – so far, so good. Unfortunately, that was one of the few positive aspects of the evening. From the start, the staff seemed more annoyed than welcoming and stomped up the stairs more or less demonstratively, which didn't exactly give the impression that guests were welcome. The ambiance on the top floor is beyond terrible. The lighting is unpleasant and completely misplaced, creating absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever. The furniture seems to have been stuck somewhere in the early 2000s, and the paintwork is also in dire need of a fresh coat. The starter consisted of mushrooms, which were acceptable. The garlic sauce, however, was more like a thin soup, and there was far too little bread – a shame, as this could easily have been improved. The side salad was practically tasteless. You could have just as easily eaten it straight from the produce section at Edeka; the difference would hardly have been noticeable. For the main course, we had pork medallions with pepper sauce. The sauce was far too spicy and so over-seasoned that it was barely edible. Serving just three very small pieces of meat for €25 also seemed quite overpriced. The second dish, a bruschetta-style pork steak, was just barely disappointing in terms of taste – at best mediocre, but by no means convincing. With three drinks, the bill came to almost €70. The evening was in no way justified, neither culinarily nor atmospherically. The food was disappointing, the ambiance unpleasant, and the prices far too high. Overall, absolutely not recommended. I visited this restaurant precisely because of the many positive reviews – which makes it all the more difficult for me to understand how they came about. My experience, unfortunately, contradicts them completely.

My Labskaus was delicious, but my partner's stuffed fish, including the sauce, was bland. It lacked that special something. That was a shame. We mentioned it; perhaps the kitchen will take note. The restaurant was quite busy, the servers were very efficient, and yet still very friendly.
