When we heard that Head Chef Joo had moved from Embassy XO to open a new restaurant called Buddha on Hastings, we just had to try! The atmosphere, service and food were all below average for my visit here along with 4 friends. We had a few dishes from the menu but felt they lacked in freshness and quality but made up in presentation.The restaurant isn't the easiest to find and maybe contributes to the lack of ambiance. I made a booking on line for 4 people .. no email back the next day so I tried to phone all day .. no answer, so I left messages.. no phone call back !! Couldn't risk turning up and meeting friends to not having a table or if they were even open, so booked another restaurant at short notice .. this has happened twice to us .. never again !!

I rang during trading hours to make a reservation for the next day as no one answered I left a voicemail message. When I didn't hear back later I also sent an email to the reservations email address. The next day I received no return call or reply to my email. I drove to the restaurant to see if there was a sign up saying they were closed for holidays or a family emergency but there was nothing. While the chairs and tables were outside it looked a bit sparse and deserted inside and none of the tables were set. Has Buddha on Hastings closed??

I first visited late last year and it was fantastic from the food to service, I even raved about it back home and told all to attend. I arrive in February and find the head chef has left and staffing has changed. The food is now good but is mainly simply made. The head chef prior was a gun and maybe I was spoilt when he was there. I noticed some staff worked and others just swanned about. I love the atmosphere but it just wasn't the same. I dearly hope when I come next time it will of changed again.

This place has sooo much potential- it's huge,the staff are great and the cocktails are good.. the food however is homogenised Asian .Was not bad- nowhere near good,just very,very average.If you like your Asian food super Westernised then this is the place for you.Maybe the UK populous here digs it..
