We made the reservation in person during lunchtime and it was completely full... read more Our first choice of restaurant was closed as it was Sunday, so decided on Kleibls. We made the reservation in person during lunchtime and it was completely full. We arrived at 6.40pm on a wet evening to a near empty restaurant, but more patrons arrived...during the next hour. Service was good, friendly and they spoke English well. My husband had the grilled octopus salad for an entree and it looked great. I had the deer filled ravioli for my main and it was delicious, even though I wouldn't have been able to tell which type of meat was in it. Schnitzel was my husband's main and he loved the flavour. My only complaint was that the salad was not crisp, but rather limp and overdressed. I suspect that it was sitting in the dressing in the kitchen, having been premade. Apart from that, a highly recommended restaurant.

First off, I am a fan of traditiona... read more Spending the night in Nördlingen, this restaurant peaked our interest as it appeared to differ from the other local options. First off, I am a fan of traditional German/Central European cuisine, but miss innovation among German restaurant owners. You can get traditional food in any...Gasthof, but it sticks to the old formulas. Another problem with most German restaurants is their lack of vegetables apart from the compulsory Salat. Kleibls impressd with a rejuvenated Deutsche Küche exceelent cuts of meat and other high quality ingredients prepared in new ways. Added to that came a healthy dose of beans, hummus and other vegetarian offerings. They also offer a nice range of wine, beer and thoughtful non alcoholic options. Friendly, prompt service and a fresh, inviting interior in the heart of the historic old town. Kleibls am Daniel was a memorable highlight on our European journey and we highly recommend it.
