Everything he make... read more LeGrand is the crown jewel of dining options in Norfolk. LeGrand would stand out in any city in the world. Steve Marsh is a true master chef. Everything he makes is spectacular. For appetizers, try the grilled cabbage and the pimento. The entrees change seasonally, but my personal favorites are the lamb and steak dishes. If nothing jumps off the menu at you, order “The Burger.” It’s the best burger you’ll ever eat. Special off-menu tip for vegetarians: Just ask to have Chef Steve make you something delicious and point out some items from the menu that sound good to you, like the grits or gnocchi, and Steve will make you a magnificent feast.

My husband ordered the duck and said it was just okay, noting it could have been cooked more thoroughly. The crispy polenta was delicious and the highlight of the main course. At one point, I had to get up and walk to the bar for another glass of wine, as I waited for the waitress to check back but eventually decided to take care of it myself. While this restaurant wasn't my cup of tea, I think it could be a nice place under different circumstances. If you enjoy more homestyle cooking, it might be a good fit for you. It was a particularly busy Saturday night, so perhaps a visit during the week would be less chaotic. Despite the service issues, everyone we interacted with was very friendly.

They don’t service fries/frites. The portions are small on the sides and the appetizers. Service is great though.
