However, during my visits, I found the... read more I don’t want to criticize Crescent Bakery too harshly; they produce more subtle bakery items, which might appeal to some. However, during my visits, I found the service to be only somewhat friendly. The cake slices were just okay; the matcha had a slightly stale taste, as if it had been in the fridge a bit too long. While I appreciated the texture of the red bean filling, it simply wasn’t sweet enough for my liking. I admit that my critique of the bread pudding/dumpling type may seem unfair, and you’re probably right. I know I need to cut back on sugar, but I can't help but love a big apple fritter!

For a really decadent mi... read more I live in Evanston and I drive out of the way to buy the milk toast here! It leads rounds around the toast of Paris Baguette at H Mart. For a really decadent milk toast experience, I make a trip to Aya Pastry in Chicago. But for every day treats Crescent Bakery is perfect. I love that bread is offered in 6, 8 and 10 disc options. It is the same loaf size so that the slices are only thinner for sandwiches or thicker for luxurious open-face breakfast toast. I get both the whole wheat and white versions. ?
