If you love beer and looking for a low key night then this place is for you. They have a great selection of the beers from all over the world as well as Filipino craft beers on tap. When we went they had at least 5 local craft beers on tap. I was able to try the Katipunan (IPA), Boracay Pale Ale and Puneta. All the bottles they have is also available to buy to take home with you. They don't really offer food but they can order food from Kuya J's and Shakey's next door for a 15% service fee. I believe you can also bring your own food for the same fee.

I'm not a beer person i prefer Whisky and Rum and Gin but a good bottle of beer with great company is still on my list of great ways to destress. That's why the Global Beer Exchange in Paseo de Magallanes appeals to me. A cross between a neighborhood joint and a city establishment, they have the best selection of beers I've seen in any one place and at better prices, too, since they're the ones who supply to a lot of other bars around. Look through the shelves before making your selection this is where I first tried White Nest (a Japanese wheat beer) and Blue Moon (a Belgian wheat beer), and discovered that yes I am partial to Wheat Beer. They also carry Katipunan craft, as well as Dear Fred, and Indio there is no shortage of local but equally appealing choices here. Unsure of what's good to try? Siddle up to the counter and ask the staff for more info and suggestions they have a good handle on everything in the store and will gladly help you pick the best ones to sample.

Global Beer Exchange has been at the forefront of the craft beer explosion in Metro Manila for years now. In fact, this is where I had my first taste of Fat Pauly's, Katipunan Craft Ale's, and Craftpoint Brewing Co's multiple selections. So it's not surprising that people who drink here, know their beer, know what really tastes good, and know what's just full of marketing trickery. Personally, I love this place because this is where I fell in love with my absolute favorite dark beer of all time, the Kasteel Donker. Mind you, a bottle of Donker is expensive, but it is worth every peso. With its full, creamy taste, along with touches of chocolate and banana, the beer goes down smoothly and sweetly, and is no slouch either, with an 11% alcohol volume. Have two of these, and you're set to have a chill night.

Living in Magallanes often feels like I'm far away from civilization. For one thing, just to go to another city, I will always have to pass a highway. Makati is just around the corner, but with Manila traffic, it gets way too tiring to drive there. Alabang is just a couple of bridges away, but the dreadful long drive home isn't the best feeling in the world. Lucky for us, Global Beer Exchange is probably just 5 minutes away from everyone's home. See, the best thing about Magallanes is probably that it's right in the middle from everyone. Yes, Quezon City is quite far, but South people (at least my friends from the south) usually won't go past the Fort area. And a few don't want to meet in Fort, especially on weekends, because parking is difficult and every club and bar is jam packed with yuppies and younglings. Global Beer Exchange may have beers that would cost you 700 pesos, but you just need to look carefully. Though its main market is for beer enthusiasts, you don't really have to be one to enjoy the beer. Just be smart and not order a Heineken or Stella or other beers that you can easily buy in the grocery store. I mean, hello? This is GLOBAL Beer Exchange. They carry beers from all around the world. Beers you probably haven't heard of yet and you're going to order a regular non-craft beer? Be adventurous and try something new. Bring a couple of friends, order different beers each and just do some beer tasting. Food isn't anything great so make sure that you'll be drinking here before or after you eat. Or you can bring some snacks, to munch on. Make sure to ask permission from the bar first though!
