And the desert, which was a cross between key lime pie and creme brulee, was my wife’s favorite dessert she's ever had. Incredible service, atmosphere, and top-quality food. The staff was... read more We dined at Lavomatique last night, and I have to agree with some of the reviewers — it was our best meal in Nice (and we’ve had some good ones! . The staff was friendly and helpful, quite the opposite of what a few reviews had suggested. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and never felt rushed or overlooked. We sat at the bar near the kitchen and got to watch all the magic unfold. The kitchen crew worked seamlessly together, calmly creating one beautiful dish after another. Our server was fun and attentive without ever being overbearing — just the right mix of professionalism and personality. We were checked on at perfect intervals, our wine glasses never empty, and every question was met with enthusiasm and care. My boyfriend, a former chef himself, was especially impressed by the quiet precision and artistry coming out of that kitchen. We began with the Courgettes, thinly sliced and still slightly crunchy, tossed with tarragon, pistachio, and lemon — an excellent palate awakener. Next came the Aubergines au Miso: half an eggplant resting on a miso sauce worthy of scraping the plate clean, and then dusted with coffee powder. The combination was surprisingly delightful — my boyfriend nearly ordered a second! Instead, we went for the Ribs de Cochon au BBQ, smoky pork ribs with a spicy sauce so delicious that my boyfriend did order another round. We finished with the Steak de Paleron Grillé, perfectly cooked beef served with glazed carrots, and added a side of Frites de Panisse — chickpea flour fries that were crispy, golden, and the perfect frites substitute. Portion sizes were generous — more substantial than typical tapas-style plates — making each dish feel both satisfying and beautifully balanced. Paired with a fabulous bottle of wine, it was a flawless evening from start to finish. We left completely satiated — and absolutely hooked. We’ll be back.
