The Chanteclair bar—as if taken from a castle salon. How wonderful it is to drink a cocktail and gaze at the sea.
We would like to thank the staff for the fantastic dining experience they provided us with. The Michelin-starred dinner in the lavish dining room of the Hôtel Negresco was perfectly executed. This legendary hotel is a must-visit for any traveller passing through Nice. The live piano music, which included the option to request songs from an extensive list, enhanced this already profound experience.
My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Le Chantecler and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. We opted for the 5-course Chant des Saveurs menu and every dish was a delight. The service was excellent from start to finish, with attentive and knowledgeable staff. The wine pairings were very well-chosen and complemented each course perfectly. A special highlight of the evening was when the piano player was kind enough to play one of our wedding songs for us. It made the celebration even more personal and memorable. We had heard some mixed reviews about the food, but we completely disagree. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We found the flavors to be sophisticated and unique, and it 's clear the chef and her team are incredibly talented. I suppose it 's true what they say: to each their own! The atmosphere was elegant and the attention to detail was impeccable, even down to the clean and well-maintained restroom facilities. We highly recommend Le Chantecler for a special occasion. It was a perfect evening and we will cherish the memory of our anniversary dinner there.
We were slightly concerned going into the evening after reading some recent not flattering reviews but we are happy to report these concerns were misplaced. Our experience was exceptional in every way. This includes the food, wine the service, the piano music and even the bathroom. From the amuse-bouche to the mignardises with its happy wedding anniversary wishes, we enjoyed every dish on the 5 course menu. The young, enthusiastic staff took great care of us and we want to give special recognition to our adorable sommelier who was a joy to speak with. We did enjoy the pianist but can understand why some reviewers did not appreciate his selections. Actually you are provided with a list of popular songs to choose from for requests. It worked for us as the list included the song that was our first dance at our wedding, which again, we were celebrating the anniversary of. So we really enjoyed the music and it made the atmosphere more fun, less formal. The bathroom is up a stairway but it is an elegant stairway and we felt the bathrooms were quite nice. We are very happy we chose Le Chantecler and are looking forward to the day we can return.
Overall I had a good experience at the Chantecler. My husband and I dined there while visiting Nice in July, 2025. We arrived early for our reservation and were graciously welcomed into the restaurant. We chose to go with the chef 's choice 8 course tasting menu and wine pairings. The meal was mostly spectacular with some of the highlights being the marvelous bread service, the duck and beetroot dish, the trout and caviar(my husband had this dish , the veal sweetbread dish, the CHEESE oh my god the CHEESE!, as well as the olive oil and orange blossom ice cream dish. Another stand out experience there was the sommelier and his wine pairings. You could tell he had extreme passion and expertise for his profession, and took a lot of thought and care in choosing the perfect wines to pair with our meal. I absolutely loved the fortified wine that he siphoned from a large jug, it was such fun! There were however a few things that detracted from the experience which is why I gave them only 4 stars. The first being that I immediately informed them that I do not eat any seafood, and the first surprise that they sent out was little bites with things like trout and anchovies in them. I know that this was not officially part of what we ordered, but it did make me feel uncomfortable not eating them and they did not remove them from the table for at least two courses following that and it just felt wrong. The second item that really took away from the experience was the music. They had a pianist playing throughout our meal and he was playing American pop music from the 70s-90s. It was cringeworthy to be eating in such an opulent restaurant and then having Billy Joel songs or My Heart Will Go On bridgerton style blasting into the dining room. For a long time it was all we could talk about during our meal and it was super distracting. I think classical music or jazz would have been less tacky. Finally was the restroom situation. You had to exit the restaurant, walk upstairs, and then when you entered the ladies room you were greeted with an odd airport style toilet in the stall. It was bizarre, and I have certainly been in more luxurious bathrooms in less luxurious restaurants. It was particularly annoying because during a lengthy 4 hour meal, you may need to use the bathroom more than once. Our bill came to right around 1300 euros, and you would expect perfection at that price point. They came a little short of perfection. (side note, they had originally requested a review via tripadvisor, but when I attempted to post this exact review verbatim, it blocked me from posting it saying they do not accept vulgar language, but nothing in my review is vulgar. It seems like they pad their reviews on tripadvisor from speaking negatively about them.

Great gastronomy, I came there during two passages in Nice at different summer periods, the staff had been very attentive.

On our honeymoon, we ordered the “reveille des sens” menu. It was exquisite. Waouh! We had an amazing experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to explore Haute French Cuisine.
Impeccable service, amazing atmosphere, and every course will entertain your tastebuds. Best dinner I have had. No suprised it has a Michelin star.
The surprise meny was complex but rather light and closer to New Nordic than traditional French, highly appreciated. Highlights were seabass with caviar, reddish, apple, grapefruit and Provence spice sorbet. Nice, selective winelist!
