Excellent dry martini, wonderful gazpacho. My spaghetti lobster was overly salty but the actual lobster pieces and the sauce were delicious. Chicken supreme was very good and perfectly done. Risotto needs improvement as it just tasted like rice. Our server Alexa was 5 star!! View all feedback.
What Pamela Frami doesn't like about Restaurant Oban Inn:
we had dinner three times in the 2022 summer. first experience was great, at our second visit we ordered her lobster pasta dish. between mai and september, the plate size was significantly reduced! wow! they cut to the cheapest ingredient: pasta! we. finally give them a third attempt (thinks that the second visit was a more outlier.) we ordered their reserved ribeye. all the dishes came to boil perfectly on the insid... Very nice dining room with really nice staff. We were 6 for dinner and arrived at 5:30 so we would have plenty of time to get to the theatre for an 8pm show.........and we left at 7:30 and had plenty of time. I had a a delicious soup then chicken and gnocci. We were here last year too and very much like it.
Enjoyed the meal, room is small, but very pleasant, be sure to ask for a window location with reservation. Will not disappoint.
Finding a good restaurant in Niagara on the Lake isn't hard. A lot of them are more upscale than those you'd find in a typical tourist town, but Niagara on the Lake is unlike a lot of tourist towns. Located just a couple blocks east of the main Niagara on the Lake district is a small Inn with a quaint restaurant. Highly recommended to make reservations because I do not think they take walk-ins. We went at 5pm for an early dinner and was done around 6:30. We were seated right in front of a lovely small garden view. I scanned the menu before we went, and knew prices ranged from around $27.00 to $42.00 per meal, not including any appetizers or drinks.Appetizers didn't look all that appetizing unless you like seafood, which there were plenty of choices. Instead, we both had the grilled beef tenderloin. Both ordered medium. Looks just a few degrees above medium which is still okay, but if I were to order again, I'd prefer a more medium-rare cook. Still was very tender and good. The potato tart was very well done, like a wedge with a mushroom pate in between layers. The vegetable, asparagus, was actually a little undercooked. Very hard with little flavor. I was a little disappointed in that. They include some bread for the table which is rare for this area, as some offer it as an appetizer, but was still satisfying. Service was fairly quick, but seemed to slow down as it got busier. We waited nearly a half hour from our last bite until our check arrived with them bringing out the dessert menu (a charcuterie board for dessert?!) instead of offering it. Just meant more time to wait until she came back to us. Overall, it was very good, just not "excellent" because of the slower service, and meal wasn't quite AAA quality with the steak slightly overdone & disappointing "farm fresh" vegetable.
We went to the Oban Inn for lunch and did not disappoint. Sat in the tavern room which was very nice although we would have preferred to sit in sunroom overlooking the gardens. Salads were very good and the martinis were exceptional Nice service from Macy.
The Oban Inn is fine dining: Tablecloths, real silverware, ceramic dishes. The food is upscale, but pricey. The staff courteous.
