I had walked all along King street and this place stood out with the dark purple decor. I was not in the right frame of mind to be spending more than 20 minutes deciding what I want (cause I usually do) so I played it safe and went with a mild butter chicken + jasmine rice and a garlic nan bread. I love how the curry is presented in the old copper Bowles but I do think serving food for one person on three different plates is a bit much (just a suggestion on saving dishes and water?) The curry was creamy and chicken was soft and had been cooked perfectly, I did ask for mild but it was a bit too mild that I couldn't taste any heat. The ban bread was thin and light which I liked as it wasn't drenched in flower. The only let down was the mass amounts of garlic is was smothered in - I love garlic a lot but not the point where I'm chewing chunks of it.

Cons: - My friend and I ordered our dis... read more Pros: - Cheap food and generous serving sizes relative to what one would expect in Newtown - Thali dish was served hot. Cons: - My friend and I ordered our dishes separately, yet all of my dishes came out 15 minutes before one of hers even came out (My dishes all came out in about 15 minutes).  We had to remind the staff, and the chana bhatura and pappadums came out 10 minutes after. - The pappadums are served in bowls covered in foil.  These bowls look very dirty, and since they are covered in foil, one can assume these bowls aren't actually going to be washed every time it's been used.  Meaning that people who are served these pappadum bowls may touch the bowls, and the staff would re-use them to serve pappadums to others.  Not very appetising when that thought is lingering in our heads while eating. Also I was thinking that the foil is there to keep the pappadums nice and hot when they come out fresh.  But since we ordered the dish about 30 minutes beforehand, the pappadums became cold - hoppers weren't crispy at all, very disappointing.
