Irene's (formerly Hartsyard) is a dining establishment located in the heart of Newtown, serving nostalgic food inspired by chef Nev's upbringing in India. Expect a blend of traditional flavors with modern techniques learned from some of Sydney's most talented chefs. Situated on Enmore Road, Irene's offers a cozy and casual dining experience that embraces the neighborhood vibe. Weather-permitting, we also have limited outdoor seating available. Conveniently located just a two-minute walk from Newtown station, we are open for dinner Thursday to Monday from 6pm, offering both tasting menus and a la carte options.

This restaurant is a must-visit for everyone! I absolutely loved it. It's a fantastic place with a wonderful team. The dining experience and menu choices for New Year's Eve were perfection. Don’t forget to try the lobster curry!
The food was absolutely delicious, but I found it quite pricey, especially considering the portion sizes. The cocktails were also on the expensive side. While the service was decent, it had a hint of snobbery that made it feel somewhat off-putting. Despite these drawbacks, I would like to give the restaurant another try.
