Cafe Newtown Mezze Bar
Cafe Newtown Mezze Bar
Description
Despite the friendly atmosphere and helpful service, some were disappointed with the food quality, particularly the chicken schnitzel that was described as tasteless and the overcooked fries. In contrast, others praised the scrambled eggs with bacon on sourdough for being perfectly cooked and flavorful, along with a delicious cafe latte.
Regular customers enjoy the sliders and eggs benedict, with positive feedback on the food quality and great coffee. The cafe offers a great spot to people-watch and enjoy the trendy Newtown vibe. While some found the coffee weak and cool, others appreciated the thick foam.
Overall, this cafe is recommended for a casual breakfast or lunch spot, with mixed reviews on food quality and coffee strength. The atmosphere is praised for its chill vibe, and the friendly staff add to the positive experience.

During my visit in July 2017, I stopped by for a light second lunch and ordered toasted Turkish bread with peanut butter and a cappuccino. While I would have preferred unsweetened peanut butter, it was still enjoyable. The coffee, however, was weak and lukewarm, although it had a thick layer of foam which I appreciated. The atmosphere was pleasant, allowing me to relax and observe the hustle and bustle of Newtown. The staff was lovely and the toilets were relatively clean. It is worth noting that there is no wifi available in the cafe; instead, you need to connect to the council's wifi. Additionally, there is a 50c surcharge for EFTPOS transactions under $10. Despite these minor inconveniences, I will likely return to this restaurant in the future.
I passed that place a million times but never stopped so during my day off I finally decided to stop by and try out the food. We ordered a big platter to share (see photo attached). The food was simple but really good, not pricey at all. They also serve alcohol which is a good thing too.I will be back!
"Located near the Urban Hotel, this charming café offers outdoor dining that can be a bit noisy. I suggest sitting inside instead. Service and food may take a while, but the affordable prices make it worth the wait. I tried the poached eggs on toast with hash browns and was not disappointed. The only downside was the difficulty of eating the toasted sourdough. Overall, I recommend this café."
Friends suggested this humble cafe as a place to meet for Saturday brunch and though I’ve passed by this place one zillion times, I’ve never stopped in. The outdoor tables are all filled so we grab a comfortable one inside, but not before James shows me the intriguing table and swing-out chairs in the back underneath the large flower plant wall arrangement: with Nepalese or Indian writing, perhaps something from a South Asian train station? A beautiful object, though uncomfortable seats, apparently.
I was here yesterday for breakfast on my way to work , I ordered for a scrambled eggs with bacon on sourdough , the eggs were cooked perfect and the bacon nice n crispy , so was the sourdough toast , I also had a cafe latte which too was served to me at the right temperature and had great flavour. <br/ <br/ Gonna be visiting here a lot more : <br/ Keep it up .
