C9 Chocolate Gelato- Newtown

Very disappointed with this place. I made an online booking, as I suspect that this place was trying to perform safe measures with COVID, and on arrival I recommended the staff I had made a booking for 2, and they were just there completely clear. Look like I'm not talking English or something. When they gathered their thoughts, they gave us a menu and told us to order before sitting. Didn't ask us to check in or something. And when it came to order, the service was simply not existent. My partner has a nut allergy and we have asked what flavors contain nuts and the lady offers a chart with the list of nutritional information of any taste. Besides, half of the available flavors on the display were not even on this chart and if asked about the mentioned flavors (the Lotus Biscoff aroma to be exact), the lady simply said: "It is better to go with the sorbet only". I understand that it is always better to scare on the side of caution, but not even make an effort to provide information about a product or ask some questions whether a particular product contains nuts is quite rude and discriminating against people who have food restrictions. My partner is able to have the biscoff cookies, and they certainly do not contain nuts, so the staff is so dismissed is simply ridiculous. In addition, I was in the middle of the order, as the 4 step process on the menu and the lady just expires. I am simply amazed at the lack of service this place offers and the Gelato is simply not good enough to justify such a bad treatment of its customers. The aromas are very moderate and they will certainly not create any aromas like Messina. They simply mix a few cookies and call it a “biscoff ice cream aroma”. In the future simply go spend $10 on a pack of ice from the supermarket and the experience would be much more pleasant than a meal here.

The hazelnut was too sweet, the cream cheese strawberry has not much cheese and the crepe was very dry and hard

We ordered fondue and chocolate lava. Both were very good. The pistachio ice cream was great. I recommend C9 chocolates for dessert lovers.

I had a great time trying out a few pancake stacks at this restaurant with my kids. The pancakes came with a choice of chocolate sauce and ice cream, so we opted for crème brûlée on one stack and macadamia and caramel on the other. The pancakes themselves were a bit simple, not as thick and fluffy as we had hoped. They were nicely presented though, with a generous scoop of ice cream, plenty of chocolate sauce, and fruit between the layers. We used a Groupon deal, which made it a good deal, but the regular prices seemed a bit high.

Very crispy and tasty cronut with a nice cheese filling. The customer service was lovely and on point!
