a little secret jewel. get them to foot on the Templar path, with the bike or car along a few tracks (good according to devon standards) or by kajak or boot from the mouth. friendly staff, good ale and a nice selection of food all accompanied by what one of the best views about the opening on dartmoor, especially at sunset must be possible. This restaurant has a fantastic location for dining out. The food and service were excellent. The selection of dishes was diverse and beautifully presented, making it a delightful experience. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit!
Our waitress was exceptional—she engaged us with just the right amount of light conversation without being intrusive, and she was smart and polite throughout. The food was excellent. Our party of six struggled to choose between the starters because they all looked so appealing, so we ended up sharing small bites of each one, which was delightful. The presentation of each dish really enhanced the overall experience without overshadowing the quality of the food itself. Everything arrived promptly, thanks to a polite young gentleman who made sure we had everything we needed and even offered us a carafe of water without us having to ask. For the main courses, we enjoyed a variety of dishes including fish, cheese, duck, and a burger, all of which were excellently cooked. My smoked fish was perfectly prepared from top to bottom—truly wonderful. The starters and mains were so satisfying that none of us had room for dessert, but that's something we'll look forward to next time. Overall, it was a lovely evening in a beautiful setting that wasn’t crowded, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The combination of great food and attentive service made for a perfect dining experience. This is exactly what we need after a long week of work!
I had a meal with friends yesterday, and as always, it was exceptional. This restaurant is a hidden gem with stunning aesthetics, fantastic decor, and food that keeps you coming back for more.

Had a wonderful lunch at the Coombe Cellars in such gorgeous surroundings. We had a starter of light fried squid and duck and port liver parfait. Main course was a dirty burger Pancho breaded chicken millanise with skinny chips and checked/red wine gravy. The staff were very attentive and professional with a lovely manor. Always making sure we were enjoying the meal and what beautiful surrounding to have a meal, looking over the estuary and to Teighmouth in the distance. We sat looking at the boats and the many trains travelling to Devon/Cornwall and we generally live the restaurant/pub and will definitely revisit in the foreseeable future. There is tons of parking due to being next door to the boat club and lots of outdoor seating. Beautiful views and if you have a dog there is a stunning massive grassed area over the stile/steps. It might be our new favourite place to go for a lovely meal...ticked all the boxes for us and super COVID safe.
