Recently we stopped at this small place to desire some dim sum. What a pleasant surprise was to discover such a hole on a wall square that serves incredibly delicious Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. Had many dimm-sum dishes, XLB and Vietnamese Steamed Crepes that we never met in another restaurant. What Brett Dietrich doesn't like about Bamboo One:
I only ordered off the dim sum menu, so I can't speak for the rest. I have to say that honestly, it is alright. I'm not an expert, but the price seemed a little high for what I'm pretty sure was frozen. I will say the staff was friendly and we received good service, but it also seemed like the kitchen had a hard time keeping up with the orders? As a result of which it was a tad slow. I'll also say the decor is dated,... View all feedback.
This restaurant in Newport News is one of my top two places for pho. The dim sum menu is also fantastic with a wide variety of options that are all delicious. The duck is particularly excellent and worth the drive from Virginia Beach. Don't miss out on trying the shrimp as well. It's concerning that this beloved restaurant may be closing its doors soon.
Bamboo One is a hidden treasure that attracts villagers, military personnel, and locals alike. If you are craving delicious Chinese dishes like rice rolls, Siu Mai, Har Gow, and Hu Tieu Wonton egg noodles with roasted pork or duck, then this is the place to go. The menu is extensive and caters to everyone in the neighborhood.
The vegetarian pho was delicious. The interior was beautifully decorated and relaxing. The service was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The prices were quite reasonable. I also enjoyed the Veggie dumplings as an appetizer, they were delicious as well. A hidden gem of a local restaurant.

Had many dimm-sum dishes, XLB and Vietnamese Steamed Crepes that we never met in another restaurant. The whole food was very fresh and tasty, the inside of the restaurant was very clean and cozy with an old looking but beautiful decorations, and the lady who served us offered a very nice and directly at the point service. I hope we will return to this restaurant in the future.
Delicious food had to try it because it is in the neighborhood. I was very full after the beef and rice noodles plate I got but I could have enjoyed more beef in it. Food was out quickly and we just loved the quiet ambience. This was my first time eating Vietnamese food and overall I was not disappointed.
