Contribute FeedbackGurney's restaurant in Newport offers a fantastic outdoor area with comfortable fire pits, perfect for enjoying the sunset by the waterfront. The food and drinks were tasty, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. However, there were several complaints about poor service, such as long wait times and issues with seating arrangements. One guest praised the manager, Amber, for accommodating a seafood allergy and improving their overall dining experience. Despite some hiccups, patrons are willing to return for the great outdoor ambiance and delicious offerings.
The service at this restaurant was subpar. If you are a party of two, do not expect to be seated near the fire pits. Instead, we were placed indoors away from the ambiance of the fire pits. The cocktails on the menu were disappointing; we tried three different ones and all of them were not enjoyable. Overall, we would not recommend spending a significant amount of money for the underwhelming experience we had.
The restaurant has a fantastic outdoor area with comfortable fire pits. We loved watching the sunset and being by the waterfront. The food and drinks were tasty. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome without rushing us. We will definitely return next time we are in Newport.
It is difficult to write this review, as this restaurant used to be our favorite spot in Newport as locals. The current menu is completely different from the summer menu we were used to, and it was not listed online. We were expecting to enjoy our usual hummus plates and cruditie, but instead found only a pricey full menu. If you are looking to graze, I would suggest going elsewhere. It seems like they are trying to mimic Scarpetta's, the Italian restaurant associated with The Gurney, which was not what we were looking for. Despite having a reservation, all the firepits were taken, so we ended up eating our delicious burgers on the upper deck. We sadly looked at each other and realized we may not be returning until next summer. This was a disappointing way to end our season in Newport. Please update the menu online to reflect the changes, and improve the service as well. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
Everything was great from the weather to the service and especially the food. My only thing was we were told our visit was limited to 1.5 hours and even when our time was up there didn't see to be anyone waiting for our table. We would have enjoyed a bit longer enjoying the view.
We reserved for late night cocktails and apps. The ambiance is superb! The drinks were great and the oysters were fresh tasty!
