We took a break from our shopping and had fish and chips. Although the fish wasn't the best quality, it was fine for the price and the chips were nice and crispy. What stood out for us was the friendliness of the waitress who brought the food out to us. View all feedback.
What AnotherHolidayer doesn't like about Sainsbury Cafe:
Met with a colleague for coffee. Quick service but not kept vey clean. I work close to here so visit regularly and it is always quite unclean but food taste good and service is quick View all feedback.
Come here especially for this Bread which I find absolutely fabulously tasty, Unfortunately I'm at the end of my tether and extremely frustrated with the staff responsible for the wrapping this product and all similar products. Despite several protestations all of which seems to have fallen on deaf ears! the tying of nots in the plastic bag in such a way as to make it impossible to access the contents without destroying the bag!!
I ordered the big breakfast at this restaurant, but after waiting for 25 minutes, it arrived with cold bacon and very overcooked sausage. I sent it back and they cooked a fresh one, but it arrived at the table with the same issues. When I complained to the management, I was told that they were short-staffed and only had kids running the cafe. They should have only served hot drinks and cold sandwiches, not full meals. I did get my money back, but the lack of trained staff and poor quality of the food led to a very low score. They did offer to reheat the breakfast, but overall, there was much room for improvement.
My wife and I both had jacket potatoes. Service was less than 15 minutes and both jackets with sides were excellent. We both really enjoyed. Well done the sainsburys team. Would recommend.
Plenty of parking at the large Sainsburys in Newport. Located through the main door and on the left along with the toilets. Toilets were clean and well maintained. We opted for jacket potatoes. Reasonably when priced against spoons and cheaper than Spud u like but definitely a smaller portion but free side salad. Approximately 20 minute wait on a Saturday so not that bad as originally told 30 minutes. Staff were friendly but busy. Mistake on my jacket with no cheese on my beans. All in all a nice little restaurant with good coffee. I would recommend.
Used to eat here regularly, but recently in the last few months it's gone majorly downhill. Breakfast seems to be just chucked on the plate without any thought to how it's presented, before if you ordered 4 breakfasts they would all look identical, now it's just thrown on the plate willy nilly with a greasy, over cooked egg and warm buttered bread that is meant to be toast!Dinner time meals do not fair any better either, if you're unfortunate to order the curry you will end up with odd sized nan bread which you'll have to dig from under the curry. They're obsessed with the sauces! You'll get them with your meal but after about 5 minutes they'll ask for them back! Woebetide if you want more sauce! Seems to be a problem with staffing levels or some staff skivving off leaving the others to do the work, a few times I've been there and there's a little blonde cafe worker sat with 2 young guys all from the café one assumes as they too have the orange hats all the other staff are running around like mad while they take it easy, oh and it seems their own store staff get priority over customers, while us customers have to wait for 30 minutes for food, they'll get there's almost straight away. So much for putting customers 1st.
