After a day at Dino, what better place to have a cold one and a decent meal. Come here for steal nite and I bet you will return. Old country pub with charm and character. Wether it's a NY Strip, Rib Eye, T bone, all cuts are an excellent value. They even have chicken and burgers (with all the sides). An indoor grill that you BBQ your own protein is a nice touch. What Scotty Tillman doesn't like about Patricia Hotel:
Very cool restaurant inside an old hotel. Lots of old photos and memorabilia on the walls. Great friendly service too. Trouble is you are given raw meat to cook for your meal. Maybe lots of people like to do this but I just want to...sit and relax and enjoy the meal that is prepared for me. I can BBQ at home. View all feedback.
I've been to this Pub-restaurant a couple of times in previous years - and tonight we popped in after going to the dinosaur park.It is a large pub and was empty except for two other people tonight - which meant it had no atmosphere. The beer selection was poor and the prices seem to have increased substantially - so we did not stay to eat.Rather disappointed. It is quaintly decorated in an old western style. The food offered is only steak and burgers which you cook yourself and this can be fun when in a group.
The folks at Patricia Hotel were so pleasant and accomodating. Due to a few slot machines, Alberta law prohibits minors from entering the establishment. However, attached to the bar/restaurant is a little cafe. Because it is technically separate, kids are allowed in the cafe. Even though the cafe is only open for breakfast/lunch, the owner opened it up and let us eat in there with our kids. She sat with us for a few minutes and chatted with us. Her daughter was in the restaurant and took our orders. She was equally lovely. The novel part about this place is that it's grill-your-own. You order your steak and it comes out on a plate, raw (don't worry, it's wrapped, so it's not directly on the plate you'll use to eat), and you go to the back of the restaurant where the "pit" is. You throw your meat on the grill and cook it exactly the way you like it. I give the food itself 3 stars - I was hoping for a bit tastier beef, given we were in Alberta, but it's a teeny village, and is the only restaurant close to Dinosaur Provincial Park, so I'm still happy overall that we went. Again, decent food, great service. Support this little local place rather than going an extra 20 minutes into Brooks for all the boring chain restaurants! You won't regret it.
When people come to the area, one of the first treats is to go to Patricia and have a steak. These guys are legendary. Great food and western atmosphere. Worth the drive!
Great place, very kind staff, great burgers. we were there for a weekend near by and visit Patricia Hotel 3 times.
The nostalgic ambience of the Patricia Hotel allows you to enjoy some great Alberta western history while participating in their steak pit dinner! be forewarned...you cook the meal yourself! Salad, baked potatoes and when in season, fresh Taber corn is there. You make your own side choices and choose your favourite "main" aka meat from the menu. How you like it is up to you. You cook it! A fun entertaining evening! Because this is a bar, children under the age of 18 are only allowed in on family night...Sunday evenings. Be prepared to show photo ID.
