What ebl29 doesn't like about The Red House:
Such a lovely looking pub in a great location, but the food was very average. We booked a table which was pointless because none of the tables were reserved, we were just lucky we found one when we arrived. The chicken chorizo pie itself was tasty but not an ounce of chorizo to be found in it and the cheddar mash was bland and not at all cheesy. I recommend you do not order the cauliflower cheese it was so bad it was... View all feedback.
I ordered the sweet potato, spinach, and chickpea pie with confit garlic mash, mushy peas, and red wine liquor at the restaurant. Overall, everything was delicious. The only drawback was that the pie seemed to have been reheated in the microwave instead of being baked in the oven, as it lacked crispiness on the outside and was a bit too soft for my taste.
We have walked past this restaurant many times while staying in Newcastle, but never ventured inside. One night, we decided to go in for a whiskey and were pleasantly surprised by the interior. The restaurant had little rooms and a corridor that led to the pub next door, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The following night, we returned for a meal to try their pie deal. As vegetarians, we were delighted to find three different veggie pies on the menu. We had a wonderful evening with delicious food and would highly recommend this place.
The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff was lovely. The pies were a highlight, and we enjoyed the view of the bustling world outside. This restaurant is definitely one of our favorites.
Fantastic pub with delicious pies and a great beer selection. We tried the chicken, bacon, and mushroom pie with minted peas and garden peas. The mustard potatoes were also excellent.
