Went for a coffee and a snack but unfortunately dogs are not allowed in. I've heard that the food and service is very good but we didn't get a chance to find out.

This is a very popular spot for coffee and/or lunch with a constant turnover of tables so the wait won't be long if you don't find a seat straight away. Baked potatoes are very good as is the homemade soup. Cakes are excellent, the ginger cake alone is worth the return trip for me. There are several, quality retail outlets to peruse too.
