Shochu Tapas Aya - New York

The food was really good as were the cocktails. The only reason I rated 4 instead of 5 stars was that several dishes in the menu were not being served.

It's not really fusion. They just serve both cuisines.

We had a terrible experience. They didn't have 3 things that we ordered and they didn't inform us until we asked them about it after sitting there an hr. We ordered the $30 steak and garlic rice.... And the steak came out rare but we had requested med rare... We asked for it to be a little more cooked then 10mins later still no steak back so we gave them a benefit of a doubt that they were bringing us a brand new dish...15mins later it's back but the tiny 5 slices of steak is now BEYOND well done... We ordered the scallops sashimi with ikura.... It came 1hr 30mins later!!! Only because I saw it come out and given to the table that just got their seats after us?! When I inquired where's our order, the waitress said another 5mins. We were done by then, not due to satisfaction or enjoyment but finally starved beyond comprehension. 1.45hrs later we were fed up because we only had 4 tapas dishes... (uni egg, mushroom bruchetta, squid seafood stir fry over cooked steak on rice! We seriously had more drinks than food because we were waiting so long thinking that maybe if we ordered one more drink we can enjoy it with our food. Starved we asked for the bill... And to top things off they charged us twice for an item?! They weren't busy... 3 tables including ours so I have zero idea how they mange to keep their doors open.

Great food and great service. hotpot curs was great for group! it was rainy cold at night. too bad we had to sit right on the door.
