I am Italian and very picky about so-called Italian restaurants in America. Sandro is like teleported to Rome, and you don't need a ticket. The Burrata was fresh and the wild boar pasta special was blown. The menu is a rare combination of best sellers (Burrata, branzino) and authentic Roman dishes (supplì, scarola, cacio e pepe). The food is good, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for since I really enjoy pasta dishes with red sauce and seafood. Unfortunately, they don’t allow for customization, even though they have the ingredients on hand, and none of the menu options caught my interest. They are not open for business yet at this new location--322 east 86th, but they're doing delivery till they get really into the new space. hurrah!
