Always enjoy coming to the Cafe for some of the classics. The Smoked Sable is a must have and I really enjoy the latkes. Overall a great spread of food but prepare for a bit of a wait for party sizes greater than 2. View all feedback.
What Jesse McCookie doesn't like about Russ & Daughters Cafe:
$22 for your typical everything bagel that you’ve got to put together yourself while the matzo ball soup barely had anything in it. Cool place but I’ve had better bagels (with salmon) for a lot cheaper.
Incredible food! Everything was delicious. However, the waitress left something to be desired. We sat down at a table during a not too busy time. Waited 10 mins for a table. When we are sitting, the waitress asks some water to drink? still or sparkling? It 's during the craziness of sitting down and all. It 's morning time. Without even really hearing her, we just respond nicely with We would LOVE a coffee. Thank you! Without batting an eye as she is setting out the menus, she looks at us completely deadpan aggressive: some water to drink? still or sparkling as if we had not spoken a word. Dumbfounded, we say 'still '. She then proceeds to get some still water and come back to the table with that. Then, she says anything else? I mean... you expect to get some entertaining servers in NYC but this was next level. And just no reason for it. Again, absolutely delicious food. Would go again in a heartbeat
Very friendly service, enjoyed lunch sitting at the bar. Really worth trying to get a table here instead of waiting to order at the counter location around the block. Great atmosphere!
Beautiful dining room. Feels like an old school diner with a modern flourish. Great noshing, soups, bagels, sandwiches and unique cocktails. Friendly staff.
An absolute must if you are into GOOD FOOD. The place is fabulous, the service is authentic and the food is just… we sat at the bar. I suggest doing so. The bar tenders are fantastic!
I personally prefer sweet bagels, they only have salmon.
