I visited this place after leaving a restaurant bar with a fairly typical menu. A friend had mentioned it to me before, claiming it had the best grilled cheese sandwich he had ever had. Upon entering Murray's Cheese Bar, I have to say that I've made better grilled cheese sandwiches myself. However, the tomato soup was absolutely fantastic. I want to thank Letty for recommending that incredible tomato soup! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Murray's Cheese Bar:
I wanted to like this place honestly, I've been looking at him for months and I finally tried to order the melt and tomato soup as well as the murray mac as this popular items. the grilled cheese was so oily that my like was immediately hurt, and the mac and the cheese were strange sweet. the tomaten soup was the only redeeming quality over the meal even tho it has a strange block of maybe soggy brot or something in... I had a great experience having lunch at this restaurant. The portions are generous, and while the menu isn't extensive, there are plenty of excellent vegetarian options available. We ordered the caprese sandwich (which is enough for two), their cheese melt, and a small mac and cheese. We also tried the thick and hearty tomato soup, along with several cheeses, and the pistachio spread, which is like Nutella but with pistachios—absolutely delicious! The mac and cheese was creamy and cooked al dente; it was one of the best I've ever had. On another occasion, I enjoyed a happy hour cocktail that was quite good as well. However, I did notice that they seemed to be understaffed, with just one waiter covering the entire floor, which resulted in longer wait times and less attentive service. Overall, the food was quite good (albeit a bit heavy on the carbs), the staff was friendly, and the cheese selection was excellent.
Murray's Cheese Bar in Long Island City opened at the end of 2020, just as we were coming out of Pandemic 1.0. The restaurant has a cozy layout that allows for gourmet cheese shopping, enjoying drinks at the bar, and dining both indoors and outdoors. The team is fantastic and incredibly friendly, having navigated through the challenges of the pandemic and its ever-changing circumstances. We're looking forward to a full reopening post-Omicron! For now, we'll continue to enjoy takeout.
The food arrived punctually, but it was unfortunately bland and dry. I've had this dish before, but this time it lacked any sauce or flavor at all.
We received our order missing several ingredients and additional items we requested. It's quite disappointing, as we now don’t have what we ordered and will be left without dinner.
As a local, I've visited this restaurant several times for both food and drinks, and I absolutely love it! The drinks are exceptional, and the food is outstanding. I mean, who doesn’t love cheese? We ordered the mac and cheese as well as the grilled cheese with tomato soup, and both were incredible and really hit the spot. I highly recommend checking out this place!
