Contribute FeedbackMottsu, a longtime favorite for sushi enthusiasts, faces growing criticism regarding the freshness and flavor of its offerings. Diners have reported stale ingredients and bland dishes, with even beloved items like the Japanese fried chicken and Kani salad failing to impress. While the ambiance is adorned with greenery and tasteful decor, some guests have experienced slow service, which dampened the overall experience. Despite some positive feedback highlighting specific dishes and the warm atmosphere, the restaurant must address consistency in food quality and service to reclaim its former glory and attract a loyal crowd.
Terrific local sushi spot that has been in the hood for 10+ years, highly recommend.
I am really surprised. Ive been going to Mottsu since it opened (20 yrs? and have even ordered delivery recently. Today the fish tastes--old. Lifeless. Refigerated. Tastes like … nothing organic. I'm really disappointe, but moreover shocked that Mottsu, such a reputable delicious place, would serve sub-par fish.
Terrible quality, don't know how this place has such high reviews
Excellent sushi and great value. Stick with the sushi--cooked dishes are overpriced
I had a wonderful experience at Mottsu and I am surprised that it only has a 3.4 star rating on Yelp. The food was delicious, particularly the naruto rolls which I recommend with spicy mayo. The Inaka Chicken ramen was the best I have ever had, with perfectly seasoned chicken and a flavorful broth. The service was quick and efficient, with the waiter taking our order promptly. The ambiance was lovely, with old Chinese paintings, hanging plants, and an aquarium adding to the aesthetic. The music selection, featuring K-pop artists like Jungkook, TWICE, and Newjeans, was also enjoyable. Overall, I would rate this restaurant 5/5.
