Each salad and small plate was fresher than the last, with unlimited refills! The freshly baked bread from the oven was hard to resist. The service was friendly. I was disappointed that I couldn't fit more in my stomach. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Lamalo:
The air conditioning on the second floor is not working. The staff on the second floor says their requests are not being taken seriously. They have called an engineer but nothing has been done. Your expensive liquor is being ruined and guests are leaving because of the heat. The staff downstairs seems to find the situation amusing. View all feedback.
I’m on a diet and so I’m not currently eating any bread. While I was waiting for my chicken skewer, which was taking some time to arrive, I took 2 bites out of my girlfriends bread. They charged me $45 because I ate her food… which according to the manager is a violation of their terms and conditions. Literally just 2 bites. The manager acts like she is the Supreme Court enforcing the constitution of the US.As a recurring customer who has come over 8x here, I will never be coming back. It’s just strange behavior, as if the manager had simply had asked me to not eat any more of her bread, I would’ve obviously complied happily. But to straight charge me for that is just busybody behavior.
I dined with a group of four at Lamalo to celebrate a friend's birthday. Both of my friends enjoyed the salmon skewers, and we all loved the majadra dish. I ordered the red snapper wrapped in grape leaves, which was decent but could have been better. Unfortunately, the grape leaves had stems in almost every bite, making them difficult to eat. I also believe the dish could have been improved by adding red onion or tomatoes on the skewer, as they did with the salmon. Despite the friendly staff and great atmosphere, I found the food to be lacking compared to NYC standards, so I will not be returning. Vegetarian options include veggie shawarma, veggie skewers, hummus, and majadra.
The service is amazing, really nice. The food is really bad, vegetarian shawarma is cauliflower and broccoli on a skewer full of oil and an excessive amount of spices and the craziest thing is that this skewer costs $19!!!!!! A miniature plate of hummus that is enough for half a person, is not worth the money! Expensive prices for dishes that are not worth it

We came in looking for something different and were not disappointed. Because we were splurging for the day, went for the Lomalo Spread spreads and breads skewer and side. My girlfriend had the salmon skewer and mejadara while I went for the lamb kofta and basmati.First, the breads and spreads. If you go with the Lomalo spread, you get all 13 spreads (unlimited) and warm bread. We enjoyed all of the spreads except for the pickled ones we tried them, and they are not bad we just don't have the taste for pickled stuff very often. The hummus, Turkish salad, skordalia, babaganoush, and spinach and artichoke were our favorites. The bread is insanely good.I loved the lamb skewer, and the basmati was nicely seasoned and paired with toasted pine nuts an unexpectedly delightful pairing. My girlfriend enjoyed the salmon but was not blown away by it she and I did, however, like the mejadara very much. Now, the price. We spent way too much, but armed with what we learned about the food here, we could probably have put together a much more reasonably priced meal if we were to return. New York City has too many restaurants for us to guarantee a return here, but I enjoyed the experience a great deal wonderful service and atmosphere.
