Contribute FeedbackKO Sushi, located in East Yorkville, offers a decent sushi dining experience with fresh fish, tasty bento boxes, and fast delivery service. While some dishes like the salmon roll were lacking in size and flavor, the shrimp tempura and pineapple dessert received high marks. The restaurant's attentive wait staff and convenient location make it a reliable choice for a satisfying meal. With an affordable price point and a great neighborhood vibe, KO Sushi may not offer the best sushi in the city, but it's a solid option for those looking for a convenient and tasty dining experience.
TAKE OUT REVIEW We ordered take from here last night and I was very pleased. I usually try to steer clear of sushi take out but this did not disappoint. And when it says on their menu fast delivery, they mean fast!! Within at least 20 minutes after ordering our food, it was delivered! Which was key because I was hungry. We ordered a few rolls: Dragon Roll broiled eel and sliced cucumber wrapped in rice with avocado and masago outside $14.95 Naruto tuna with crabmeat, avocado and masago wrapped in slices of cucumber. no rice $10.95 This was the roll that I ordered and was so pleased with it. It was light but it able to fill you up Spicy tuna, Salmon Skin Roll $4.75) and Cucumber Avacado roll $3.75). Total was $43 bucks 50ish after a tip) which I dont think is too bad for that amount of sushi and having two special rolls. Just looked at their menu on Menupages and the prices aren't up to date so keep that in mind. Their lunch special looks pretty decent as well. Fresh sushi, delivered fast, cant go wrong there!
In short, the Red Dragon roll was good with soft shell crab which I love. The Uni was okay, but not great as it lacked the sweet taste of excellent Uni. The scallop was enjoyable despite the waitress trying to upsell a live scallop special. The yellowtail was borderline fishy. As a bonus, we were treated to free ice cream with canned lychees. Overall, the restaurant was average in terms of sushi quality.
They have an error on the menu... masaga. What the h is masaga? Confused, I googled it on my phone. Masaga is a rugby player from New Zealand. Why would my sushi contain masaga? I asked the waiter to clarify and apparently they meant.. tobiko (flying fish roe). They specialize in lots of fake rolls here too. I had the sushi platter for $15 which came with miso soup. It was ok, not amazing.
Ko may not be the best sushi place in the city, but it is pretty decent, tasty, fresh, and known for fast delivery. I live near the restaurant and have ordered delivery many times as well as dined in. The fish is fresh and the bento boxes are filling and well-paired, all at an affordable price. While Ko may not offer an amazing sushi experience, it is a reliable spot for a satisfying meal. The menu includes fresh salads, standard ginger dressing, good miso soup, passable chicken teriyaki, and decent tempura. Overall, Ko is a great neighborhood joint that caters to the convenience of East Yorkville residents like myself. Thank you, Ko, for making it easy for me to enjoy a lazy meal at home.
For my main dish, I ordered spicy tuna and salmon avocado rolls with brown rice, my go-to choices for lunch. The slices of salmon and avocado were thin, and the brown rice was unseasoned. The spicy tuna lacked flavor, leaving me with a mouthful of rice and seaweed. It was overall a disappointing experience. Ko Sushi, you need to step up your game. With so many other sushi spots in the area, you need to improve the quality of your dishes to survive in this competitive market.
