Contribute Feedback What Olivier LA likes about Jewel Bako:
The setting is nice and interesting with two parallel and almost identical rooms and a counter in the back. Service is excellent. We were a bit disappointing because their fish and rice are high quality but they tend to spoil the raw flavors by adding too much unnecessary noise on their sushi like scallions, jalapeno, yuzu, microgreens, spices, horseradish, and so on. Prices are fair. View all feedback.
What OpenTable Diner doesn't like about Jewel Bako:
Food is very basic and does not taste fresh at all. A lot of it just tasted old and bad. Really do not recommend, despite how much of a fan of omakase my partner and I usually are. View all feedback.
It's one of the worst sushi places ever in NYC. The service is awful, the sushi is not fresh. I recommend to go somewhere else.
I wanted to love this place, honestly omakase, close to home, highly rated but it was just ok.
The portions are very small for the price, but the service, the staff and the quality of the fish was great. my friend was still hungry after and we got a piece on the way home.
The entire experience was extremely underwhelming. the amuse bouche was stone. the sushi rice was cold and there was a lot to wasabi in some of the Sashimi pieces that made me spit it out. the spiny tuna roll was good, but I had food business sushi of the same quality and it is a spicy thunfish roll that you can not really screw up. even the coupling holders were bad; they literally use kiesel stones for coupling holders (have they got them from the central park? so that the coupling pins would not remain on them if they were sitting there to carefully balance them on this literally round rock. the restaurant is extremely cramped. every time the waiter or someone else came by, they rub against my coat and purse lying on the back of my chair. decor was quite cool and modern, but I felt claustrophobic. imagine to sit in a fancy walkar cash, and that is what jewel bakos ambiente is. the service was good, but nothing to write home. like this place has a Michelin star, is serious beyond me.
The staff was very rude and condesctive, did not make Valentine's Day dinner on any wise. will not be back.
