Empanada Mama Hell's Kitchen - New York

Stopped in to see if the empanadas lived up to the hype. Up until today the best empanada I've ever eaten was from a food truck in San Juan Puerto Rico. This is another level of quality. I had the El Toro and Jerk chicken and cheese. The El toro was oxtail and impressive. Next time I'm in NYC, I'll be returning. The menu is vast and can't wait to try something different.

I love stopping here for an early lunch on long layovers in NYC. They have a wide variety of delicious empanadas, and I wish I could eat them even more often.Food: 5/5

Went to get something to eat with a friend. Busy place with lots of activity and maybe a little too loud to have a conversation at least during the visit I made yesterday a Tuesday around 8pm.The food was excellent and service was good. Would absolutely go back again!

The food is delicious here! I lived in HK through the pandemic and got lots of takeout from the area over the years. The delivery is unfortunately too unreliable to order from here. I have ordered maybe 10 deliveries and ~50% arrive. 25% come 2 hours later? and 25% never come at all. They are open late but late night orders seem to have more issues. Getting takeout from here is always great though.

I tried the corn empanadas because are the Colombian type. Shredded beef was amazing! Like home. Shredded chicken was good. Cheese was disappointed to the heartbreak point! I order more cheese because are the authentic… the cheese was not Colombian/Spanish cheese…. They used like mozzarella or white American cheese. No taste at all. ?
