What Rhett Rempel doesn't like about Cellar 58:
They may be craving garlic bread, Malbec, or Lambrusco, but the place was perfect for a casual evening of drinks and light snacks. The rice balls were particularly delicious. View all feedback.
8p. Saturday night. We had our choice of seats and within 15 minutes most tables were full. We shared an arugula salad with apples and almond it was slightly refreshing. Pencil Auberginen Parmesan were both prepared and tasteful. Wines on the glass are good value, we had a Malbec Montepulciano. Tiramisu expresso finished the evening. We had a pleasant meal for a reasonable price. A winner! We'll be back.
Cellar 58 was recommended by a friend who has traveled to Italy numerous times and knows good authentic Italian food. We were 5 people on a Sunday evening which is a great time to go because they don 't open until 5:00 and it 's not crowded. Our waiter (and owner) Paolo 's service was outstanding. He made the overall experience a pleasure by recommending dishes, taking the time to explain items on the menu, and most of all...informing us that the Calamari did not meet the Chef 's standards and would not serve it. We ordered several appetizers and pasta dishes, all of which were excellent. The Polenta Cakes were my favorite! My daughter had the Bucatini Amatriciana which she hasn 't eaten since she studied in Rome last year and it was Spot On ! Can 't wait to go back! The polenta cakes are calling me!
We went to Cellar 58 because the reviews were good and it was close! We took advantage of an early reservation and promotion from OpenTable 1,000 pts). We were very pleased!! My companion had the linguine w/ clams and I had buccatini w/ ragu as an entree, charcuterie soppressata), and the arugula salad. Everything was very flavorful and the staff are very attentive. We also had copious amounts of wine their wine list was impressive, but we stuck to the great sauvignon blanc that was on special for happy hour $5). I recommend Cellar 58 . You will not be disappointed.
I took my son out for dinner and wanted something simple and delicious. This was the place! The ambiance is excellent and the waiter was incredibly attentive. They brought out some great olive oil and bread, which is nice to see in a day when bread is no longer served. We shared a couple of very generous sized appetizers, excellent white wine, and then true to form Italian main courses chicken a type of milanese style and a pasta dish to perfection. We had to bring some food home and the price did not break our wallets. I will definitely return.
It's a shame about the food--barely fair. But it was quiet on this Sunday night, and the service was lovely, the wine nice enough--so all in all it was a pleasant last minute experience.
