Some say this is where you get the best banh mi in Chinatown. We love ourselves a good Vietnamese sandwich and so does everybody at this Chinatown staple. What W L doesn't like about Bánh Mì Saigon Bakery:
Attracted to here from an Ad on instagram, ordered a classic pork banh mi and traveled all the way to here but felt so disappointed. It is loaded with shredded bacon (not how a classic one is, and missing important ingredients), mediocre at best, definitely can’t be compared to the banh mi I had from other places. Solid, consistent and fast. Like your sister. The banh mi, imo, should be available in every neighborhood in NYC, like the chopped cheese, an Italian panini and a beef patty. It’s mind boggling it’s hasn’t, but this only confirms my theory: the world, even the center of the universe, is filled with basics. This is the most popular spot in the neighborhood, of the three total that specializes. Translation: lines. They go fast though. The real bonus is there’s room to munch. Standing up by the wall. Beats the heat or the cold or eating on the curb with the rats, Brad. All their sandwiches are solid but nothing special. It never disappoints because they are very consistent, like a well run fast food chain. When the craving hits, and there isn’t a line out the door, I’ll always hit it again.
Delicious banh mi. Lots of veggies and pickles. Had the bbq pork banh mi and it was super tasty. At $9, it was a great stop.
Have in mind this is a street food local. Their bahn mi is just spectacular! I’ve been coming for 10yrs. You can eat standing up or have it to go. Particular decoration and good customer service!
