Beautiful restaurant with an outstanding, varied menu. Service was generally good, but it took a while to get our second round of drinks. The proprietor takes on a lot of work himself; his son, who was our server, was more efficient. Both were very friendly and pleasant, though. Reasonably priced wine list with good selection of bottles; wine by the glass choices are limited but adequate. View all feedback.

My group had an enjoyable dinner at Alcala. The server was kind and attentive, and the food was delicious. I wish they had a bar or wine list. We ordered a bottle of wine that was ok and were surprised to see it cost $60. If a list had been available, we would have made other beverage choices. Still enjoyed the evening though! Great food and extra friendly service. Lively atmosphere
We had the Arroz Confitado, and it was delicious. We went there because they were known for their paella, and they did not disappoint us. We will go back. The service was very good and attentive.
This neighborhood Spanish gem is a long time favorite near the United Nations. It is family owned and operated by native Spaniards with old world recipes. The ambiance, service and food are all outstanding. Having dined here many times, I highly recommend it.
Exceptional Spanish Tapas restaurant with outstanding service in an intimate venue. Truly a hidden gem near Grand Central Station. Wonderful staff all around. Food presentation was thoughtful, and the flavors in each tapas dish were exquisite. Will certainly return to this special restaurant to try other dishes, including their entrees. Bravo to the owner and chef of this establishment. P.S. Terrific assortment of Spanish desserts and wines to choose from, too!
Whenever we are in Manhattan we make sure to have at least one dinner at Alcala. The food, setting and relaxed pace of service bring my wife, me and our friends and family who join us back to Spain.
