The atmosphere has a more relaxed vibe, and they offer large frozen drinks. Some members of our group felt the drinks were a bit too sweet. The bartender was very friendly, especially when I thought I had spilled my drink all over myself. They also have televisions showing the sports game. I didn't get a chance to try the food, but based on the service and the drinks we had, I would definitely recommend this bar. View all feedback.
What Selece Reeves doesn't like about The American Sports Saloon:
The menu is quite disappointing, featuring items like popcorn pork rinds and overpriced food that isn't worth it. This restaurant used to have fantastic meals. If you're planning to eat here, it might be better to stop by McDonald's first—you'll be grateful later. I gave it 2 stars for the game coverage, but I would recommend avoiding the food altogether. There were five of us in total. Drinks-wise, two of us opted for the Frozen Cherry Limeade, which turned out to be mostly straight alcohol—a pleasant surprise for some, but not for me, as I was hoping for a more balanced drink. One person ordered a Stella on tap, which was cold but disappointingly flat. The Cokes we ordered started off well, but they, too, went flat after several refills. As for food, our group ordered a variety of items: The Club (without mayo), Buffalo Wings (with a side of mac and cheese), Chicken Tenders, Tacos (on Taco Tuesday, which includes three tacos), and an American Cheeseburger. There was a significant wait for our food, as it came out one dish at a time, with some finishing their meals before others had even received theirs. The Buffalo Wings were the first to arrive; they tasted decent, but a couple felt undercooked, which explained the strange flavor we noticed in a few. The mac and cheese, however, was missing. By the time one person finished their wings, the tacos finally appeared. Unfortunately, they were dry with minimal flavor and largely filled with veggies rather than meat. Next, the Club sandwich arrived—surprisingly, it came with mayo even though we had been informed it wouldn’t. Following that were the Chicken Tenders and the cheeseburger, which arrived together. The tenders were quite good with a nice crispy coating. However, the cheeseburger had a burnt top bun and was missing the American cheese I had requested. But after such a long wait, I wasn’t inclined to send it back, fearing it would only prolong our stay. Eventually, after all the food was served, we…
The atmosphere feels more like a dive bar, but they serve excellent frozen drinks. A few people in our group thought the drinks were slightly too sweet. The bartender was very friendly, especially after I accidentally spilled my drink all over myself. They have TVs playing sports games, which adds to the ambiance. I didn’t try any food, but based on the service and the drinks, I would definitely recommend this bar.
My husband and I had an enjoyable afternoon watching the Vikings game at the American Sports Saloon on Sunday! We've never seen a venue with as many TV screens dedicated to sports as this one! There's plenty of space for everyone, including balconies with private screens for your game. Despite being busy with the simultaneous Saints game, the service was friendly and attentive. If you're in New Orleans for a sporting event, this place is a must-visit!
Very kind and friendly bartender. Not sure why they weren't serving food (on Sat at 2pm).
This is a fantastic spot to catch a game! They offer lounge chairs for a comfortable viewing experience. The food is excellent, and the service is top-notch!
