I'm in Minnesota for the week, staying at the Balcony Guest House above the Silk Road Restaurant. They serve delicious Mexican dishes on Sundays and Mondays, and I've dined there both nights because the food is simply outstanding! The pastor meat is incredibly juicy and flavorful—definitely the best I've ever had. On the first night, I tried the tostadas, and they disappeared so quickly that I forgot to take a photo.... The staff at the restaurant is friendly and attentive. We initially enjoyed the smoked burger and salmon, which prompted us to come back and explore more of the menu. However, we found the other dishes to be quite mediocre. The beef short ribs were more like flavorless cubes of beef stew rather than actual ribs. We had an amazing dining experience with outstanding service and delicious food. We started with the three-cheese plate and the house salad, then moved on to the sesame-crusted salmon and wilted spinach. The braised short ribs were devoured by my husband before I could even snap a photo! Everything was truly delightful. The restaurant also offers an extensive selection of bottles, allowing you to pick your own wine (and cheese). We thoroughly enjoyed our time sitting outside, taking in the lovely weather. It was just perfect and exactly what we needed. A big thank you to Grace, Sonja, and the team!

Silk Road has a solid Restaurant Week menu. We tried the samosas for apps, curry chicken for main, and gulab jamun for dessert. The Red Curry Chicken was my favorite part of the meal it was amazing. There was a pretty good beer selection, with more options in cans than on draft. But let me tell ya the restroom was SO CLEAN. I was very impressed by that.
Another letdown was the gulab jamun, which were served cold—quite an odd choice and not very pleasant. The white chocolate cheesecake was tasty, but it would be more accurately described as a mango white chocolate cheesecake since it had a strong mango flavor. On a positive note, service was quick. However, the restaurant's interior could use some upkeep, and the layout felt a bit off.
Really beautiful, romantic ambience! Good selection of wines and delicious entres. The shrimps and grottos were facing us!
