What Ania Martula doesn't like about Preservation Hall:
Music is great but due to condition of the room I can’t in good faith give more. We were there for Labor Day. It was hot! It’s a small room where 50 people are packed. They are making good buck with what they charge for 45min of music. (Not that I could actually do any more in that room) No ac, no open widow, two small fans. All you feel is heat and smell combination of BO and stale air. View all feedback.
One of the best musical experiences in New Orleans. The band is always super talented and engaging. The fact that you can't take pictures allows you to be in the moment. The room is magic and helps you understand the history you are partaking in. I've done the front row and standing room and both were great experiences. The front row did help with hearing some of the dialogue and singing. The standing room has fans which keep you cooler they just make it harder to hear the talking.
What a great experience! We went to a 5:00 show with our 11 and 14 year olds. They enjoyed it as well. I knew the place was small, but didn't know just how cozy it was. We chose standing room and had a perfect view and experience. We bought our tickets in advance. Since it was summer, there was no wait. We got there a half hour early and were told not to bother even lining up for another 15 minutes. Go potty before you get there because there are no bathrooms. This is an awesome place to experience the best live music you can find in NOLA.

I love jazz and history. This place combine them. The birth place of jazz, worth visiting. They owners kept it as original as possible, including no mics.Be ready to stand for an hour, or sit on a solid bench.Book in advance online, tickets sold out fast.No videos or photos allowed during performance.
