Tucked away as a charming hole-in-the-wall, this diner boasts a nostalgic vibe and a friendly staff that is eager to provide great service. However, the food seems to be hit or miss. Diners have found both the French toast and biscuits disappointing, with issues ranging from undercooked items to unseasoned dishes. While the shrimp po’ boy received praise for its fresh bread and flavor, other menu items did not fare as well. Overall, the welcoming atmosphere and attentive service provide a silver lining, but culinary consistency remains a notable concern for this quaint eatery.
The service was quick, and the waitress was friendly and polite. I found the shrimp omelet to be decent, but I wasn't satisfied with the steak omelet—it was rather bland and tasteless. On the other hand, the shrimp omelet was generously filled with shrimp. The hash browns were just average and also lacked flavor. Additionally, the biscuits were dry and the gravy didn't have much taste. However, I really appreciated the authentic atmosphere of the restaurant, which is something I love and often miss in many dining places. The restaurant is named Please-U, but my experience didn't quite live up to expectations.
There was no sausage in the biscuits and gravy, and the biscuits were both dry and cold. When we arrived, there was only one other table occupied. We placed our order, and then more than 20 people came in. Our food sat in the back for several minutes before it was brought to us—I saw it while I was walking through the kitchen to use the restroom—and it arrived cold.
The worst food I’ve had in New Orleans. The dishes lacked seasoning, and the grits were lumpy. I’m not sure what they called gravy, but it was definitely not good. The biscuit was just as bad—probably very old. I couldn’t eat the food. The eggs were good, but the sausage tasted like pre-cooked frozen sausage, not fresh. I wouldn’t recommend this place. The service was good, though, which is why I’m giving it two stars.
Friendly and helpful staff. I was able to try authentic, delicious and reasonably priced creole comfort food here. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We were in town for a family wedding and were looking for somewhere close to get breakfast and had heard that this was a good place to go. It was a hole in the wall. Our server obviously wanted to be doing anything else or be anywhere else than where she was. She was just going through the motions. Didn't say two words to us. I ordered a please u omelette with grits because afterall we are in New Orleans. I honestly can't remember what my wife ordered. The omelette was terrible. Everything was seriously overcooked. Also even though I had ordered grits the side that I got was I think hash browns? It isn't what I ordered so I had to guess. We had things to do that day so I didn't say anything. As our server brought us the check, I mentioned it to her and she was obviously bothered by it and asked if we wanted grits . This is as we were leaving. Granted I should have mentioned the mistake earlier, but her attitude was terrible. It wasn't all bad. The lady at the cash register was really nice and we talked for a while about where she was from, etc. Overall, they didn't live up to their name. I would save my money and go somewhere else for better food, better service and better atmosphere. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
