The oysters here are simply mouthwatering! As we all know, New Orleans is renowned for its seafood, so saying that this restaurant serves the best oysters I've ever had in all my travels across the USA is truly an understatement. What User doesn't like about Gallier's Restaurant Oyster Bar:
As a Black individual, I advise against trying to get a table at this restaurant. I experienced racial profiling from the host, who told me that because I was wearing shorts and flip flops, he couldn't seat us. However, when I pointed out that several White patrons were wearing similar attire, he had no response. This incident left me very hurt and frustrated by such blatant discrimination. I wasInitially, I was really skeptical about this restaurant. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the New Orleans sampler and alligator bites were. We decided that the gumbo was our favorite, so we ordered a bowl to take back to the hotel. I have to admit, it had the perfect level of spice for me. It wasn't hot at all, which was my main concern. I believe that when dishes are overly spicy, they tend to lose some of their flavors. I will definitely return to try the oysters next time!
Delicious oysters! New Orleans is well-known for its seafood, and saying that this restaurant serves the best oysters I’ve ever tasted during my travels across the US doesn’t do it justice! I could easily eat them all day long. After enjoying a meal, take a stroll around the French Quarter or Bourbon Street and then come back for more. It's truly fantastic! We also tried the salmon and soft shell crab entrees, and they were perfection! The restaurant's convenient location near Canal Street and other major tourist attractions in New Orleans is a great added benefit. Be sure to visit this place when you're in NOLA!
Delicious food, but the service left much to be desired. We ordered appetizers, a salad, and entrees, and while it was fine that the appetizers and salad arrived together, the entrees came out less than two minutes later. This didn’t give us any time to finish our appetizers before the main courses arrived. We didn't see our waitress for a while, so we ended up using one of the extra plates she brought to cover the entree and keep it warm until we were ready to eat.
Wow! We tried a variety of dishes, and everything was fantastic. However, the highlight was definitely the fried shrimp – it was the best I've ever had! Be sure to pair it with either the cocktail sauce or the remoulade. The red beans and rice were amazing as well, and the catfish was incredibly tender and juicy. Every dish was seasoned to perfection. Plus, our wait time was surprisingly short, even though the restaurant was quite busy.
