One of the most authentic, down to earth places that you could visit for both good food and good company! Will, our server is a warm, kind-hearted and lively individual that will not bs or oversell you on anything. He recommended us the gumbo, seafood fettuccine, and our new favourite drink— the Bayou Splash. Wish we took better photos because they really don’t do the place any justice!! Got to meet Lewis the chef th... View all feedback.
What J K doesn't like about Bayou Bistro:
Waited an hour and ten minutes for shrimp and grits that were average at best. My cousin waited an hour for fried shrimp and fries. There were guests who walked in, ordered takeout, and got their food before we did. When I asked the cashier when to expect my food, she asked what I had ordered and said oh I can get it for you right now then delivered it a minute later as if it had been ready the whole time and just ne... This place is great. When we walked in we asked to be seated close to the tv so we could watch the Pelican game. The waiter was super friendly, and made us feel welcomed sort of like being at home. Their menu is loaded with a lot of traditional New Orleans dishes. The sweet tea is amazing you can tell it is fresh brewed. I decided to settle on the Shrimp Stew which I have never seen on a menu and had only eaten at home. It was seasoned just right. Not overly spicy or drowned in Creole Seasoning. My dinner companion decided to get a seafood platter which had a very light batter and not a lot of salt. You could really taste the flavor of the fish and shrimp. Yes I'm that person who likes to taste everything to decide if I would like to order it next time so please don't judge me. I didn't get a picture of his platter, but was able to take a picture of my dish. If you are looking for authentic New Orleans food you may want to check this casual dinning place out.
This place doesn't even have a license to operate. It has almost as many code violations as does rats. I'd fast a few days rather than risk eating a morsel from this joint.Foolisgly if you go ask to see the slimy kitchen.

Will absolutely never return.
I still have yet to receive a response from Bayou Bistro about my order from a week ago! Compare my pics to their stock picture. It's unacceptable!
Called to order barbecue shrimp at 6pm on a Saturday night in French quarter in January. How do you run out of shrimp?!? Somebody call Forrest Gump please!
