The wilted lettuce and the... read more The sandwich arrived on two very thin slices of white bread, and only one piece of bacon was awkwardly broken to fit the small bread. The wilted lettuce and the end slice of a tomato only added to the disappointment. There were no sides included, making it a bare-bones, poorly crafted sandwich. To top it off, it had been hastily cut into triangles, and one of them was missing half its bread. I ate it, but I won’t be ordering that again. I typically come in once a week with friends for lunch, but after this experience, I’ll need to reconsider that routine. I’m sorry to say that for almost $10, all I got was a drink and a disappointing sandwich.

The biscuit and gravy were delicious, the hashbrowns were cooked to perfection, and although the bacon was a bit on the well-done side, that's exactly how I like it.

I had her Alabama Omelette (3 eggs, cheese, meat choice - I chose sausages with toast, fresh tomatoes, gravy and one side of the bacon! It was excellent! Everything was perfectly boiled, coffee refills were prompt and I had enough bacon and Gravy left on the second slice toast to take home for an afternoon snack. Gaylen 's is one of those places where the regulars appear like clockwork and everyone knows everyone, but they have made me feel at home even though it was my first time. You have lunch specialties and Sunday brunch (I have included copies of the menus). I want to go back for lunch and try her chopped steak or meat salad with some good land pages, such as corn, green beans or potato salad among others. Just cook good land!
