Hunan House is incredibly delicious—it's the best Chinese restaurant I've found in the Greater New Haven area (and I've tried nearly all of them). The prices are very affordable, even during the pandemic when many restaurant supply costs have tripled! As a Chinese American, I can confidently say this is the most authentic Hunan cuisine you can find around here, without a doubt. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Hunan House:
I got the steamed soup dumplings and shu mai to go. It says on the menu that they were both non frozen, handmade dim sum, but I doubt it. The wrapper of the soup dumpling was thick, and there was only a tiny amount of meat inside. The shumai was small and it only had sticky rice in it but no shrimp or pork as what its name suggested. I had a really good memory of this restaurant from several years ago, but today was a little disappointed. Still better than an average take out place. Heard from local people later that the owner has changed. No wonder ...
Food is good but service is bad. Very slow and food is cold when served, it has to be reheated
I ate there for the first time and was very satisfied. we liked mainly the damped plant dumplings, sautete green beans with auberginen and peking ente. the hot and acidic suppe was in fact too sharp for our taste. the servings were large, the amount they are packed for us at the end, will feed us home for a good time. service was good.
My sister and I went here for the first time and it was delicious. We will definitely be back
