What ERIN MCANDREW doesn't like about East Avenue:
Extremely disappointed. I get to see my mother maybe once a year, I made reservations to take her out for a belated Mother’s Day/ Birthday, and the service was absolutely horrible. Other tables around us were getting attended to more than us. I had to ask other servers to order food/ drinks/ cutlery. Our drinks were never replenished. Not impressed. Sorry Mum… View all feedback.
This lovely restaurant, conveniently situated in the heart of the city, offers both indoor and patio seating. Our host, who also served us, was friendly and well-informed about the menu options. They have a great selection of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes in addition to their regular menu. However, I found the margarita disappointing; it tasted like it came from a powdered mix, which was unexpected for such an upscale venue. The turkey burger was just okay—it had the flavor of a frozen, processed patty, though it was still edible. There are many ethnic dishes on the menu that appeared to be fresher and less processed, which I found appealing. I would definitely return, thanks to the excellent service and the intriguing menu options I didn't get to sample. Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.
This is my favourite restaurant. I’m always pleased. Service is great, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Food is unique. Has some common dishes but have a unique twist to them. Very flavourful and good fresh ingredients. If you’re passing through you really need to try this restaurant.

We stopped here for lunch on our road trip. The atmosphere is fantastic. The servers were friendly, but got one of our kids' order wrong. The food was underwhelming. I got the seafood chowder and cauliflower bites. The chowder was not that good. The cauliflower bites were delicious. I'm glad we went here regardless. The laneway next to the restaurant was on Viola Way, where we could see several art works of Viola Desmond. This was very neat.
The atmosphere and service at this restaurant are exceptional, and everything is well-presented and remarkably clean—even the kitchen! We appreciated the fresh rose and lit candle on our table, which added to the romantic ambiance of our dinner. A word of caution: none of the sandwiches or burgers come with a side (like fries or salad), which are an additional $6 and not clearly indicated on the menu. My meal, initially priced at a reasonable $14, ended up costing an overinflated $20 for a clubhouse salad. To make matters worse, the clubhouse was made with frozen turkey, which was disappointing for the price. Although we found the portions to be on the lighter side, the food was elegantly presented. Overall, it's a lovely spot for an occasional fine dining experience.
