had last week lunch in the royal oak and it was amazing. the staff was so friendly and welcoming, eating was so delicious that everything was eaten on the dish. I had the black medallions and it was so tender and mouthwatering. Nice to be on the country outside while enjoying excellent eating and doing. will go again. View all feedback.
What 314wille doesn't like about The Royal Oak:
Knowing as I do that pubs do not actually employ Chefs, just people who can reheat food I went for what I thought was pretty simple.......Macaroni cheese it arrived pink. What more can I say BUT that our bill was not cheap either AVOID this place. View all feedback.
We had an excellent lunch here on Tuesday lunchtime. The pub wasn’t busy but still had a lovely warmth and atmosphere to it. Service was everything you’d hope for and the food really was exceptional. The 3 of us had the £9.95 2 course lunchtime Mon-Friday special which is amazing value for money. Best liver and bacon I’ve ever had. Loads of parking at the back.Definitely recommend it and will be returning next time we’re in the area.Thank you, this is how a pub lunch should be.
Booked a table here for my daughter in laws birthday while we on a long weekend break. Made to feel welcome straight away, had a lovely friendly atmosphere. Our waiter was very pleasant and jolly. Our food was enjoyable and reasonably priced. There is a 10% service charge on the bill which we was told we dont have to pay,but as we usually leave a tip we kept it on there. Would go there again if ever we in Dorset in the future.
We visited of a quiet November midweek lunchtime. The car park at the rear is large and the dining area is large, and there were plenty of tables with space between them, a pleasant surprise. We'd seen the set menu advertised in the local paper, 2 courses for £9.99. Both the main courses and the deserts were very good, tasty and well presented but both were small, or rather very small portions. So, with everything else being very good, I'd suggest one splashes the cash and goes for items off the main menu unless you want only a small meal. One other thing to note, a gratuity or service charge of 10% is included on the bill. We were given the option to remove it but declined to do so, as we'd been pleased with the service. However, we subsequently noticed that the gratuity was on all items including drinks, my preference if tipping is to tip purely on food. You may of course have a different view.
Eaten and had drinks here many times. Lovely food and great staff. Had a couple of very good ****** Mary’s here recently.
We came here on a rather dull Monday evening. We have often thought about popping in and rather than cook we got in the car and decided to come in.We are glad we did. I had the seabass with a parsnip puree on a lovely bed of veg. I must say the sauce that come with it was absolutely fantastic. My friend had the liver and said it was cooked perfectly. Will definitely be coming back. The service and drinks were also lovely and we had a great evening.
