We enjoyed two meals here this week, once with friends and once with family. The food is delicious and the staff are attentive and friendly. I would definitely return to this lovely venue, which is full of character and charm. Special shout out to one... View all feedback.
What Kay B doesn't like about The Beach House:
We didn't stay at the hotel but made a dinner reservation. Unfortunately, our experience was not what we had anticipated. The service was lacking and the food was just okay. However, the building itself was beautiful and provided a nice atmosphere. We did enjoy having coffee and cake there a few days prior, though. Overall, I wouldn't choose to go back. Our second time visiting we thought the service was poor the first time but the food made up for this, I wish I could say the same about our recent visit. The service was abysmal from start to finish, we arrived and were left standing for 5 minutes before being walked to the edge of the restaurant and being told your table is over there. After around 15 minutes we were offered drinks and given the menus, nothing was said about the menu, after selecting our food we were told they had run out of everything we ordered. Once we chose again the food arrived relatively quickly but was hardly warm and we were still waiting for our drinks, we had to ask twice for them to chase the drinks and they finally arrived after we had finished our food! We had to wait for 30 minutes after finishing our food to be offered a dessert menu to look at. This took another 20 minutes to arrive and a further 15 minutes to be asked if we wanted dessert by this time we had had enough as had our 2 year old who was now very restless. We ordered the bill which again took forever to arrive. There were 3 other table's in the section of restaurant we were who all had reason to complain about the poor service. It was very reminiscent of an episode of fawlty towers!
The building and restaurant are lovely, the young serving staff were excellent and the food was good with generous portions.
What a disappointment terrible from start to finish. I think they need to re think the staff. The service was awful, everything about it was awful. The mussels were also dried up and brown. I’m dreading the morning. Such a shame because it’s a a beautiful place. But jeez, I think the owners need to get back in the floor and see how it’s ran. So disappointed and spent a lot of money.
Really tough review this one Lovely place to go for a coffee and a slice then a walk along the beach But worst Christmas dinner I have ever had and cost nearly 1k for 5 adults 5kids 3 of the 5 adult meals Would’ve been better if they were microwave meals Still go for a coffee but never eating there again
Inadequate is the only word that comes to mind. From the specials board the Brie and beetroot quiche and salad sounded great. However it was presented as an individual quiche and a small handful of pea shoots. That’s it. Main course £16. I asked if I could have extra salad, just salad. I was told that I had the dish as it was supposed to be served. The very nice waiter then said I could have a side of ceasar salad. To my horror brown little gem overwhelmed with nasty cheese and lots of croutons appeared.
