W o w! Came by the Assembly Room because we were in the area and peeked ahead at vendors. Nikko has peruvian/Japanese sushi and ceviche and poke bowls for some reason not on the online menu) The food hall space is gorgeous light and airy it was spotless and stylish. We ordered At Nikko a Peruvian Causa encevicha , kind of like a terrine of mashed yellow potato with lime/hot peppers, layered with avocado and then topped with mahi mahi ceviche and finely shaved red onion. This was SUPERB. My parents are Peruvian and this dish was executed perfectly My companion had the spicy tuna poke bowl, again impeccably fresh fish, really good texture and flavors. We would order again from here in a minute! Super nice here too, my only wish would be if the had Inka Cola.
I recently visited Nikko 's Sushi and Ceviche Bar at New Britain 's new ish Food Hall The Assembly Room. I 've previously reviewed the Assembly Room and I 'll avoid repeating old ground here. Bottom line The Assembly Room is gorgeous, has nice seating areas, has nearby street parking that seems available at lunch and is a great addition to Downtown New Britain. I understand that Nikko is connected to Parkville Market 's Mercado 27. Both have Peruvian influences. I 've had Peruvian style sushi in Miami, but it may be a new concept for Central CT. It certainly will feel familiar to fans of Japanese sushi rolls. I ordered the Acevichado Roll, with shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, salmon and ceviche sauce . The rice seemed a bit more molded than many Japanese sushi rolls I 've tried, but it tasted good and had good texture. Everything worked for me texture and flavor wise, except that the ceviche sauce did not connect with me. It had the consistency of a mayo based sauce and a creamy and tangy flavor. I would have preferred a chipotle mayo and/or an eel sauce equivalent. The combination of the cream cheese with the creamy ceviche sauce sent things in too much of a creamy direction for me. Service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was cool. I would definitely try Nikko again for a different sushi roll or for Peruvian style ceviche. Best of luck to Nikko. Four Stars
