Was mattbJ3226RY at Burgschänke a mag?
Perfect place: great food, service, atmosphere. I had a fabulous soup of tomatoes, followed by a Pfaelzer Teller, finishing with a Creme Brulee. Accompanied by a great Riesling, and Prinz Old Prune. Just AMAZING!!! View all feedback.
What jmw632013 dislikes about Burgschänke:
My garlic steak was very tough. My friend’s steak was **** for medium. There was not much for a side dish. Onion soup was onions swimming in cream. It was a magnificent setting with disappointing, expensive food. View all feedback.

We had a great birthday dinner with a table within the round tower. Nice atmosphere. Nice steaks served with good sides. But service is way too slow, especially when with children. The main course took 30min to arrive with the kids' plates served the last (and it was just a bratwurst with rösti). But worse, the ice cream for the kids took 30min to get delivered... Parking is very reduced by the castle, so best is to park by the city entrance and walk across the old town.
We went to Burgshanke for a birthday party and it made for a wonderful venue. It’s about a 30 minute drive east of Kaiserslautern along the A6, on the fringes of the weinstrasse. The restaurant is part of a medieval castle, set into it’s ruins. Parking can be difficult along the narrow alleys, but the short walk is well worth it. There was an event going on outside, where they had a bar set up and event staff getting ready. You walk into the restaurant into a huge cellar with a curved roof. There are many sections in the dining room, with custom sized tables and booths, mostly hewn from thick hardwoods. The main hall is dimly lit, but accented by a huge fireplace lending to the charm. The female waitstaff wear traditional long dresses and white frilly shirts. The menus are translated into English and they seem to specialize in meat dishes, with plenty to select from: pork loin, duck, T bone steaks, rumpsteak, veal, sausages, liver, etc. They also had a nice variety of soups and cheese platters. We settled on the baked sheep’s cheese (very good) and the beef tournedos (what seemed to be two beef filets very tender and well cooked) that came with a side of zucchini and mushrooms and some delicious rosti (hash browns). We also had the veal steaks, which were quite thick and not as tender as they could have been. Saving room for dessert, there were nearly a dozen items to choose from each looked tasty. We decided on the apricot dumplings and the ice cream in raspberry sauces. The dumplings contained half an apricot inside a dough, served over clarified butter. Different tasty. We also tried the hazelnut ice cream and cherries. All great flavors. One of the surprises of the night was the Dornfelder Liquor, which was asked for specifically and it was terrific! A sweet, leggy drink, very similar to a porto. Overall, an excellent meal (we spent about 100Eu and had a couple glasses of wine) and a unique dining experience. We’ll be back and we’ll bring some out of town guests to share another nice time.
Had a great dinner with the team. My colleague ordered the T-bone steak which took up the whole plate! The deer carpaccio with horseradish and Apple was outstanding! The service was lovely and she spoke 3 different languages to serve our table!

This place has a fantastic atmosphere. The service is very friendly and accommodating. Food can only be recommended, it is so delicious. We'll be back.
Magnificent castle cellar, right in the castle. Hearty, good kitchen (where else there are really great butchersupp). And more impressed the dessert, self-made ice cream and a gorgeous cinnamon wafer. We'll be back.
Very good service and food is also highly recommended. Especially for celebrations or for appointments, I can highly recommend the location. The whole concept is really sophisticated. I had many nice evenings here.
Very tasty steak ate... one of the best steaks I've ever eaten...
Been there for eight tonight. Super service, delicious food and fair prices. Have felt very comfortable and recommend this gastronomy.

We were not served here. Instead, we would not be observed and how air is treated. we have eaten about 8 to 10m on a not covered table. Even in the case of 3 times demand, we were not offered for 8 people, although this would have been possible and even 2 tables were free! (but none of them is ready for 8 people. the most amazing: one of the 2 service forces, treated me like air. When I finally complained to the second, they tried to control them and explained that the exposed tables would not be served and they would also be only two in the service and two in the kitchen, they wouldn't do that. incomprehensible, as at most other tabs only 2 people were sitting and at the 2 free tables together 14 places. the demand were both tables, not only a table reserved, etc. the strange reasons. so friendly a strange word. the second service was nice and said we should have asked her (because she obviously doesn't think much about her colleague. we then went to the next place where we were not treated as a second human choice.
We have been regularly in Burgschenke for years and have never been disappointed. The best way to book in advance is to get full quickly.
We weren't served here. Instead, we would not be respected and treated like air. We sat about 8 to 10m away at a table not covered. Even in 3 times demand, we were not offered space for 8 people, although this would have been possible. And even 2 tables were free!! (But none of them are ready for 8 people. The greatest thing: one of the 2 service personnel, treated me like air. When I finally complained about the second, they tried to steer them and explained that the tables that were not covered would not be served and they would also be only two in the service and two in the kitchen, they would not make it.... Incomprehensible, as at most other tables only 2 people were sitting and at the 2 free tables together 14 seats. Suddenly both tables were on demand, not just a table reserved etc.... the odd reasons.... So kindness was a foreign word. The second service was nice and said we should have asked her (because she apparently doesn't think much of her colleague... We went to the next place where we were not treated like people of second choice....

We have been coming into the burgschänke for years, especially because of the excellent ochsen meat (wood wool and filet) and are always very satisfied. the service is always friendly and attentive, and the restaurant management welcomes idr all personally - as far as it often allows the full dining room. the atmosphere invites them to stay, here they want to sneak with a gloomy light and came in close proximity. the tower room is particularly sweet with its small niche, but also the main guest room, a walled vaulted cellar, has a lot of charm. from the appetizer (including a tasty wobble soup) over the hot-awaited main course of the ochsenkotelett with self-made potato roast and a huge fresh salad (of course everything they just desire and order) into the desert of homemade ice or parfait and our favorite maril baroque is just all always top! there is always a small piece of chocolate cake (where else you know only packed cookies). the quality of the quantity is in nothing! we are very happy to come here, even if we drive well 80 km for it. also brought friends were always enthusiastic and we look forward to the next time! I can only say they have a really stressful evening. I can hardly imagine, however, that they really wait for 1 hour to be eaten, and there is not the talk with the chefin looking, but waiting for the bill. each yet so good restaurant often has a few lazy service eggs, but therefore the complete concept, eat and evaluate the restaurant management negatiw I cannot understand. Moreover, their assessment is not very useful for others, as they do not mention a word about quality or plv., should a real restaurant criticism look different.
We wanted 2 times metzelsuppe, 1 times chick in champions and then 2 main dishes came first the chicks but in the house we left mainly because we had ordered the metzelsuppe first. after some time the suppenants came, it went about half an hour, then the main dishes came, but as we had ordered the champions with snails in the meantime, the main dishes went back. after approx. 20 minutes came from the snails. After 1 hour we then asked the service about the missing main courses that were not prepared yet, what we demanded the bill. when we wanted to leave the natives, we wanted to complain to the resaurant line what we did, even though they turned off as an iteressier they did not. the bill was then for 2 apperetief 1 bottle wein and 2 reordered wei that we wanted to drink on the main course 1 bottle water and 2 metzelsuppen 51 €
Meat was not medium, but rare deaf soup was bitter 1.5 h waiting for eating
