This time our gang decided to visit this branch of Pop Tates for our monthly lunch-out.The others had been to this branch many times before and it was super hyped. So finally when we decided on Pop Tates, I was eager and with lots of expectations. The location of this 'unrestaurant' is right on the main road, but accessible only via private transport facility. Located on the first floor of the building which houses several other good restaurants as well, the entrance is easily accessible. The place is spacious, tastefully decorated and with comfortable seating. We had not done any table bookings but did not face any problem as afternoons are not that busy at all. Most of the tables were empty. I am sure the place is packed during dinner time. The staff in attendance were quick and professional. Immediately they showed us to our tables and gave us the menus with the specials. This time around we were in a time crunch so the ritual menu study to decide what to order was replaced by quick selections. Turns out some of the usual items were missing from the menu. For starters we ordered cheese poppers, potato wedges, chilli lemon chicken, fish fingers and BBQ chicken wings. They have started to serve in metallic old fashioned red-painted boxes complete with a lid. Though in writing this might sound exotic and interesting. In presentation we did not like it. Brought down the whole table atmosphere. Plus hot fried food kept in closed boxes makes them soggy and lump. The cheese poppers were too dry and a tasteless lump. Potato wedges that we had described and ordered was not what we got. Chilli lemon chicken was skewered spicy chicken with green paste and a single slice of lime on its side. Fish fingers had fresh fish but not so tasty and without a crispy covering. Maybe the crispiness was lost by being imprisoned in that box. All the accompanied sauces inside the boxes were of various colours but not as thick as one might expect them to be. Hence the dips/sauces were very runny to use as dips. The only saving grace was the chicken wings. It had the right consistency and taste. We also ordered a veg pizza and sizzler with garlic pepper sauce. The pizza was average. The sizzler was fine and came with super white rice noodles, rice, french fries topped with diced vegetables and chicken in saucy gravy. The garlic pepper sauce alongside complimented the noddles as they had no taste on its own.We did not have deserts. But after the above food experience, even my hardcore fan friends had lost their faith and no one missed not having desert. Maybe it was an off day but still how can one go wrong for so many dishes in the same meal.

Restaurant is good for their hospitality but not that perfect in the quality of food. As oil and spices feel cheap.
I recently dined at Poptates with a group of friends and had a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, the cocktails were amazing, and the prices were very reasonable. My favorite dish is their signature chicken lasagna. This time, I tried their fish fingers which were served in a nostalgic steel box, reminiscent of my kindergarten days. The juicy fish with crispy crumbs and wine sauce was a delightful combination that we ended up ordering again. The music and ambiance added to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. I can't wait to come back again soon.
The barbecue wings at this Pop Tates outlet are some of the best chicken dishes I have ever had. The dish looks incredibly appetizing and let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. We were here to celebrate our friend's birthday and had a great time.
