We had pretty high expectations going in, thanks to all the great reviews. But honestly, the food still blew us away. Every bite, from the starters to the mains to the dessert, was so flavorful and utterly delightful. What really touched us, though, was the chef’s kindness and care. My girlfriend recently developed a seafood allergy, and when we mentioned it while making the reservation, the chef went out of their way to create a special menu just for her. It wasn’t the standard one, but it was just as incredible. Thank you so much for such a wonderful and memorable evening in Nara—it really, really made our day. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We found this place because we were staying near, but it should be a real destination restaurant—really should be Michelin starred. It’s tiny but we didn’t have a reservation (lucky I guess). The multiple courses were wonderfully presented and delicious. This is not a very expensive place for the quality, but certainly top notch in terms of complexity and presentation of the dishes. Each was a gem. And while each was not huge, we were more than satisfied in the end. This is one of the best meals we’ve had in Japan (and we’ve had a lot)! Note that the price I indicated includes a bottle of wine. Price per person: ¥9,000–10,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
