Hal Yamashita offers truly innovative Japanese cuisine with unmistakable traditional roots. The service was excellent; the attention to detail was on point. We tried the omakase menu and were left satisfied. We will go back!

After having a superb dining experience at Hal several months ago we were looking forward to a Valentine's Dinner. What a disappointment. The serving courses were a hodge-podge of items, most seemingly prepared earlier in the day. Excitement was passing from these bland selections. Although the staff was courteous and efficient, they could not offset the mediocre tasting menu which ran an over-priced $140. Hopefully Hal would get its mojo back. Rafa

I wanted to like this place but I wish I would have read other site reviews of what is going on there the last few months. There were maybe two tables there and one finished up shortly after arriving so there was no excuse for the horrible service received. We ordered two deep fried appetizers. They made neither. I suspect that they had already turned the frier off or some other reason. The quality of the food was fresh. High priced but if other things were up to par with the price (service, ambience, etc. then this wouldnt have been so noticeable. When the bill came and I saw the amount for the experience I wish I had gone to Morimotos.
